Something leaking behind the screen? don't drive the car till you solved this, unless you don't mind a hot drive. It is dangerous to drive while fuel is leaking.

What is a brass drift pin and mullet?

A brass drift is a punch made of brass, so when used it will not create sparks when striking something metal with it, as a steel punch can do. Recommended when working at the fuel tank to remove the locking ring for the fuel pump. A spark from a steel punch could explode the tank vapors.
A mullet is, I guess, like a hammer .

Process for installing fuel filter

Hello Friend:

#1) Open Hood and Locate the Steel Fuel Line running to the carburetor.

#2) You'll need to use 2-Different Sized Wrenches to Break the Steel line with-Out twisting it.

#3) You'll see a Smaller Nut should be 1/2 -3/4 Inch.If you have recommend using a Flare wrench on that Nut.

#4) Then you'll need a Larger Wrench to Back up the Flare Wrench,Its a Brass Larger Nut Right on the Carb.Even a Cresent Wrench will work.On the big nut on Carb.

#5) Holding the Lager Wrench at the same position its in,don't let it Move, while Loosening the Nut on the Line.Remove the line away from the Larger Brass nut on Carb.

NOTE: Lossen your gas Cap to Relief any pressure in your Fuel Lines. Put some old Rags or something right under the Connection to catch the Fuel that will come out after the Line is broken

#6) now go ahead and Turning it counter clockwise take the Inlet Brass Nut on Off. After its Removed the Fuel Filter is inside a Cavity made just for the Fuel Filter.

#7) On the Brass Nut theres a Gasket besure not to loose or damage it you'll need it to seal the Fuel filter from any Leaks.

#8) Also the Fuel Filter is different on both ends.So watch carefuly how it comes out so you get it in the Direction of Fuel Flow the correct way.

#9) Sometimes People add a inline Filter as well some where in the Fuel line Coming out of the Carb. if there is I recommend you also change it.

To install your new Fuel Filter or Filters Simply Reverse the Procedure that you used to remove the Filter.

I hope this will help you Please let me Know by oting for the Quality of my solution. And a Testamony would be Appreciated.

How do I remove fuel pump on an 84 celebrity v-6 2.8 liter i think.

You will have to disconnect negative battery cable, then disconnect wiring harness going to gas tank, then remove filler tube, then both fuel lines.
Then support the tank with a jack, remove support straps, then remove tank bolts, lower tank and pull it out.
Then with a BRASS and ONLY a BRASS punch and a hammer, knock the ring on top of the tank counter-clockwise until it is completely loose. Then pull out sending unit and fuel pump carefully and disconnect the two of them. Then reverse procedure to reinstall new pump

How do you take the ring off that holds the fuel pump in on a 2002 S80 non turbo, without the factory tool?

Gently, a brass punch and a hammer are sufficient to turn the large "bung nut" on the fuel pump.

Make sure it is brass, as a steel punch can cause a spark.

When you remove the fuel tank on a 1991 nissan stanza, the cap you have to undo to get to the fuel pump, what is the technical name for that piece so that i can find a replacement part for it?

I believe u are referring to the lock ring. U should use a brass drift (chisel) and tap it on the raised edges of the lock ring to remove it. U can also use a narrow wood block. The point of course, is to not use metal on metal, which may cause a spark when u strike it, and any gas vapors may ignite (brass won't spark).

91 chevy s10 fuel pump

I believe u are referring to the lock ring on the fuel tank that holds the assembly in place, I use a hammer and a sturdy piece of wood (oak flooring 3/4" thick x 2" wide x 6" long), or a brass drift (punch). Place wood or brass against the tabs on the lock ring, tap w/ hammer to loosen (counter clockwise). The reason to NOT use a screwdriver or steel chisel, etc. is because u can make a spark when hitting it w/ hammer, and then u won't need to worry about the fuel pump anymore. Work on it in a well ventilated area!! No heaters going, or smoking, etc.
