I push on the cluster and the signals start working

The turn signals and the lights do not work,but when I push up on the cluster they work.

Turn signals work fine one minute and then they stop. I can pull over to the side and turn car off and then on and it works fine or if I tap the hazard light switch they start to work. What is the problem.


The turn signals and hazard lights are controlled by the hazard switch, which is the button you push to engage your 4 way flashers. The electronics in the switch corrode over time and the result is an intermittant, no turn signal/no hazard light problem. Under most circumstances, replacing that switch eliminates the problem. There is another possbility, rare, but possible. That is, there is a problem with the BCM and/ or the ignition switch as some of the electronics run through the ignition switch. Usually if the switch is at fault, you will get a no-start condition WITHOUT the passlock security light, and possibly a random re-set of the cluster gages similar to what you see when first starting your vehicle. Have this checked by a qualified mechanic before spending money on a new ignition switch!

On my 93 saturn sl2 in order for the car to crank and start i have to turn the right turn signal on. If i do this it starts every time. Do i have to replace the whole ignition blinker and light cluster?


Have you done any wiring changes in your car recently? There should be no interaction between the turn signal switch and the starter switch. You do not need to replace your light cluster. In fact, I don't think you have a problem with your turn signal switch, unless, of course, the turn signals do not work. Do you have access to an electrical schematic and a voltmeter?

2004 monte carlo. Turn signals dont work. The stalk still works with other functions, such as wiper, brights. The fuse is fine. Could it be a bad relay? When u push the stalk up or down nothing happens on...


try pressing the hazards on and off if they still don,t work replace the flasher unit. it is built into the hazard switch( all one unit ) change this and all will be good.

Gauges blow fuses,brake and turn signal lights dont work

NO START


This problem can be three things. The ignition switch is a good place to start but its under a recall and you should not spend any money on this repair. The passlock system next to ignition switch should probably be changed at the same time and is also under a recall. The instrument cluster is the most probable in your case. The reason i say that is because the key is the headlights not turning on you may also have some lights on the instrument cluster flickering on and off at weird times.The speedometer or other gauges are probably not working all the time. if you are handy you can remove the cluster and send it out for repair. The tech who repairs this might even tell you that the instrument cluster has nothing to do with non start issue but it does. the passlock anti theft reads the ignition key when you insert it into ignition cylinder. Once you turn the key the ignition sends a signal through the instrument cluster to the pcm. the pcm will allow the car to start if the correct signal is recieved. If the pcm recieves no signal it allows the car to start for a second and then kills the car.
