Check for vacuum leaks. Also could be leaking at the intake manifold gasket. Use WD40 and spray around the intake, if the idle/rpm's change, replace the intake manifold gasket.

What would cause truck to shake very hard or rough when starting?

I really need to know the mileage.....?..also the question isn't very clear ...Is the whole truck shaking roughly or is the engine shaking roughly or is it both the engine and truck shaking..?..Since I am not sure I will answer what I can....Ok......If the truck is shaking while sitting still at idle the engine/trans mounts could be worn and or loose mounting hardware...If the engine is running roughly at idle causing all to shake that bad it could be a number of things causing it as usual...Quite often a faulty plug wire/and or bad plug will make it have a misfire because it will be running on only 5 cylinders..If that's the case it could be more than one bad...A vacuum leak will cause it to perform in the same manner...however all cylinders will be firing..Normally a vacuum leak is easy to pinpoint..however it could be a faulty IAC valve..(IDLE AIR CONTROL)..The idle air control is designed to hold a high idle at start up then slowly bring idle down to proper Rpm.....A faulty TPS (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR) will also cause a rough running problem..And let's not forget the O2 sensor..(OXYGEN SENSOR)..The O2 sensor controls air/fuel mixture...and yes an exhaust manifold gasket will make it run rough but not too bad...It has a rough running sound more so than causing it to horribly shake..It will shake but not to bad..
it is located at the exhaust side of engine..The exhaust manifold is mounted to the engine exhaust port..the exhaust pipe is mounted to the exhaust manifold and the muffler/cat converter is mounted to the exhaust pipe...You can check the plug wires quickly..With engine running carefully remove plug wires 1 at a time..If the sound of engine gets worse the wire you removed is good..after verifying it is good or bad plug wire back on then pull the next wire..and so on..If you pull a wire off and there is no change in engine operation that is the bad wire..If that is the case change all plugs and wires...One at a time..(It is a good idea to make sure all wires come off easily before starting engine..old wires will come apart easily..grasp wire tightly at boot and twist left to right while pulling..)as far as the other components I spoke as well as many others, the best, easy way is to have it hooked to a scanner and they can check/test all components for proper operation...Now..If it runs good but is shaking the engine/trans mounts are worn as I stated earlier..any loose engine component will cause an engine shake also but you should notice it at a glance...engine mount bolts/nuts being loose can be tightened without changing mounts if caught in time..Trans could be coming loose.also worn clutch will cause vibration...Send more info and I can guide you to remove and replace any faulty components you may find to save you money.........Brooks/Metalpoet.....

P0068 on a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT. Rough "hunting" for idle. Momentary lag/loss of power from a stop. Random RPM changes while at a constant speed. Sometimes it feels like it drops out of gear...

P0068 Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of power
- Engine rough idle Possible causes - Large vacuum leak
- Leaking air duct system
- Mass Air Flow (MAF) poor electrcial connection
- Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) poor electrcial connection
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
- Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
- TP sensor not seated properly.
- Faulty Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
- Dirty throttle body
When is the code detected? The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors operation rationality check by comparing sensed throttle position to mass air flow readings
P0068 DODGE Description The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors a vehicle operation rationality check by comparing Throttle Position (TP) to Mass Air Flow (MAF) readings. If, during a self-test, the comparison of the TP sensor and MAF sensor readings are not consistent with the calibrated load values, the test fails and a diagnostic trouble code is stored in continuous memory.

I have a 1998 honda accord today the check engine light came on with code 1259 the car dont want to idle and has lost power. can you tell me if a sensor went bad or whats wrong with it?

Try this first:
1. Start car (have someone sit inside to hold idle if need be), but let the car idle on its own if possible. (replace fuel filter before anything, it is usually located on the driver side, just behind the rear tire.)
(see step three before doing step 2) 2. You will want to locate the MAS, Mass AirFlow Sensor. This is on the air intake. Find your air filter, and follow it toward the intake (center of engine). About a quarter of the way up, you'll see a small black rectangular box. With a screwdriver handle, or other small, lightweight tool, tap on the sensor. If the engine fluctuates, or dies, it needs replaced. If not, it may only need to be cleaned. You can purchase MAS cleaner at the auto parts store. Follow the direction on the back of the can. If this does not fix the problem, then replace the sensor.
3. If the MAS does not fix it, and the idle is still rough, check the distributor cap and rotor (if equipped), as well as the coil wire (center of distributor cap, follow to coil). If the rotor looks warn, is white with build up, as well as the points on the inside of the cap, replace them both, as well as the plugs and wires.
4. If step three does not work, proceed with step 2.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

1999 grand am running a tad bit rough now service engine soon light on

This is usually an easy fix:

Try this:

1. Full Tune up: (have diagnostics test done at auto parts dealer / should be free and takes like 5-10 minutes). This will let you know what parts/components may need replaced, and will save you a lot of time and even money.(Baxters, Napa, Auto Zone etc)

a. plugs and wires - air & fuel filter
b. distributor cap and rotor (if equipped)
c. tap on MAS (mass airflow sensor; if equipped) will be located between airfilter casing and intake manifold. If idle hesitates or car dies, replace. If not, (optional) purchase some MAS cleaner and spray the inside. Let airdry for about 20 minutes, then reassemble.
d. O2 sensors. One or both of these may be bad.
e. Once O2 sensors are replaced, light may stay on - go to auto parts dealer and ask them to run a diagnostics and clear the codes.

Also, if this has a distributor, check the cap and rotor (replace for safemeasure) it never hurts to.

If it has coil pack(s), have it (them) tested as one may be bad and will cause the car to run rough, but still run. Loss of power will be experienced as well.

There is a modular that sits just under the pack(s). This cannot be tested, but if it looks melted, bubbly, or white, it probably needs replaced.

Let me know if you need any further assistance with this matter.

2001 Tahoe: Hard to start, idles rough, check engine light on.

Flashing check engine light is missfire, fuel pump probably causing multiple tries to start.Having to build fuel preasure, vac leak on one side of intake probably causing rich/lean condition. Also check back preasure to cat ,Sound like you are moving down right track.Mas air flow would probably set lean code bank1 and lean code bank2

2000 Nissan Sentra rough idle

a rough idle/high idle is indicative of a malfunctioning TPS(throttle position sensor) this is located on the throttle body ,is attached with (2) screws/bolts to the throttle body housing right off the butterfly shaft. it has either 2 wire or 4 wire plug. the replacement part can be purchased at locale auto parts store. I would also agree that a full service and tuneup be done. this will help with performance and will increase the fuel efficiency. please rate this...thanks
