Keep in mind that you have several components there:
- Fuel Pump Sender Assembly,
- Fuel Pressure Regulator,
- Fuel Rail Assembly, and
- Fuel Injectors.

1.- Fuel Pump (Sender Assembly) - TESTING
Refer to the accompanying charts for fuel pump diagnosis and testing.

The fuel injection system remains under pressure, even after the engine has been turned OFF. The fuel system pressure must be relieved before disconnecting any fuel lines. Failure to do so may result in fire and/or personal injury.

2.-
Fuel Pressure Regulator - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

(the fuel pressure regulator, which is located on the fuel rail assembly)

NOTE:
Before removing the fuel regulator assembly, place a clean shop towel under the regulator to catch any fuel drips

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. If not done already, disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. On the 3.1L engine, remove the intake manifold plenum, as outlined in .
  4. On the 2.4L engine, remove the fuel rail. Refer to procedure earlier in this section.
  5. Detach the vacuum line from the regulator.
  6. Place a shop towel under the regulator to catch any fuel that may drip out. Unfasten the fuel pressure regulator retaining screw, then remove the regulator by twisting and pulling it from the fuel rail.
  7. Remove and discard the O-ring seal. Inspect the filter screen for contamination and replace if necessary.
To install:
  1. Prior to assembling the pressure regulator to the fuel rail, lubricate the new rail-to-regulator O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
  2. Place the O-ring on the pressure regulator and install the pressure regulator to the fuel rail.
  3. Install the retainer or coat the regulator mounting screws with an approved thread locking compound and secure the pressure regulator in place. Tighten the mounting screw to 76 inch lbs. (8.5 Nm).
  4. If removed, install the fuel rail assembly to the engine.
WARNING The fuel return pipe must be connected before tightening the regulator retaining screw to prevent the regulator from rotating. Rotation of the regulator could damage the retainer and spacer bracket and lead to a fuel leak at the regulator inlet.
  1. Connect the fuel feed line and return line to the fuel rail assembly, use a backup wrench on the fittings to prevent turning.
  2. Attach the vacuum line to the regulator.
  3. On the 3.1L engine, install the intake manifold plenum.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable. Turn the ignition to the ON position for two seconds, then turn it to the OFF position for ten seconds. Turn again to the ON position and check for fuel leaks.

F150 2004 won’t start feel like fuel pump is not working but i ready put new pump and all so pump drive module and still not work

Check your fuel pressure. If you have no fuel pressure then look for a wiring problem. Possible inertia switch engaged or disconnected. Spray some starter fluid into the throttle body. If it start s it is a fuel problem. Check for spark at plugs. Check if the injectors are getting current to fire from the ecm.

2004 Malibu Classic replacement engine won't start.

Is it a crank, but no start? If yes, spray starting fluid into air intake. If it fires then dies, then, it is fuel problem. If it doesn't fire it is spark problem.

2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Cranks but won't start!

It could be the fuel system.
It could either flooding or starving for fuel.
If injectors are fouled badly it will wet the plugs and not fire.
If plugs are pitted that makes it easier to flood. (check plug tip condition, check all plug wires and boots are good)

If it is starving -- fuel pump weak (going to fail).
Need to test fuel pump pressure.

I have 2004 Chevy Malibu classic, it acts like it wanna crank but won't. it will turn over but won't stay cranked up.

You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ?
It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, fuel pump, or a list of other things.

The dash gauges all work , fuel pumps are both good , the fuel pumps wont come on and the truck trys to fire when i turn the ignition on but wont , could this be a fuel regulator

did you check the fuel pressure pump on the frame rail for power and ground? have you verified no ignition spark to the spark plugs? have you checked for fire from the coil to the distributor cap? does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on? have you check for injector pulse and power at the fuel injectors? if the fuel pump won't come on and you have no ignition fire and no injector pulse, all of these systems are triggered by the ECM.

HAVE A 04 MALIBU AND IT RUNS GREAT FOR DAYS THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL CRANK BUT NO START. WAIT ABOUT AN HOUR AND IT WILL START FINE. PLEASE HELP THIS CAR DOESNT DO THIS ALL THE TIME

It seems to me that the engine won't start on these occasion when it is at operating temperature . There are a number of possibilities here , lets deal with one at a time .

A possible cause could be a lack of residual fuel pressure , meaning that when the engine is switched off the pressure drops rather than holds . This will cause the fuel to vaporize in the engine fuel rail and hence it will be hard to start .

The cause of fuel vaporization can be one of three things namely : leaking injectors , a faulty fuel regulator or a leaking check valve in the fuel pump .

So try checking your fuel pressure when the fault occurs . This is a dangerous operation unless you know what you are doing . Do that first and then get back to me .
