Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
What year is your car or truck is it shifted by vacuum or is it electric or by cable it could be the TV valve 87 to 93 are cable 94 and up are electric or computer controlled

First thing to do is check all vacume lines. Then check the cable from throttlebody to trans. If not broken you can pop the insert on top of it up at throttlebody with a flat screwdriver and then push/lock it back down. Now get in the truck and slowly press the throttle pedal fully to the floor, you should hear some clicking as you do this. It is readjusting the cable pull to the trans. If still no luck I would get a filter kit and try that before going to a transmission shop. I wish you luck.

Sounds like your torque converter is failing. Self repair if you are a good mechanic. If not, it is off to the transmission shop.

need more info i had a 1984 chevy half ton and first, second, and third worked fine but lock up didnt work. the problem was there was no vacum at a switch under the hood on the fire wall also your shift linkage could be out of adjustment. try driving down the road and raise up a little on the shifter.

Check both O2 sensor(s) and catalytic coverter.. P0420 means catalyst below threshold. Also check the sensor at the transmission and solenoid.

Hi, yes I just had the same problem and the clutch packs inside the transmission are slipping. I had to replace all the clutch packs as well as the bands. The parts for this job really aren't that expensive. you could get everything you need for less than 300 bucks. however labor is where they kill you. It's about a 10 hour job or maybe 12 depending on application. average shop rate 80 an hour you looking at 900 dollars labor plus parts. if your mechanically inclined and have tools you could take your time and do it yourself. you can buy a step by step DVD for your specific application. other wise I would call around to transmission shops. their is a slight chance it may also be your solenoid pack. the best way to confirm is to have a transmission line pressure test done. I hope this helps!

Check the transmission fluid level to make sure it's at the proper level. Have a transmission shop determine with a scanner that if it's your 3-4 solenoid or the wire harness has gone bad and will need to be replaced. You have a 4L60E transmission and this is common if your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is faulty and needs to be replaced, easy fix, just replace the TPS on the throttle body. Your Electronic Pressure Control valve EPC is faulty due to dirt from dirty transmission oil and filter, or the solenoid has gone bad or the wire harness on the passenger side by the catalytic converter has gone bad from corrosion or loose. Try disconnect the wire harness on that side and cleaning it out with break parts cleaner and reattaching it to see if that helps before you drop the transmission pan to get to the solenoid. The solenoid is around $45.00 and take about 10 min to replace once the transmission pan is replaced so this should cost around $150.00 repair with the oil and filter replaced also have them replace the boost valve "$45.00" with a 0.490" boost valve to bring up the transmission line pressure to help you get more life from your transmission and should be replaced every 60,000 miles as a part of the transmission service. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your transmission running 100% again soon.
