They put a few different 2.7L engines in those. 2000 will be identified by the 8th vin digit as a U,R or N. 2002 will be identified by the 8th digit of U, R or V. You need to know which one you have. They may or may not interchange certain parts. Identify what you have 1st.

Did you check out the basics? Does the starter motor spin and kick out the drive gear? Did you check the flywheel teeth? Did the old starter motor use shims?

2003 dodge Intrepid 2.7l oil leak above rear main seal after running 20 minutes

rear main seal usually only leaks when the car is running. though oil will slowy drip off afterwards. now the best way to tell is to remove the heat sheild that covers the flywheel and look at it and at the flywheel . is the oil only on the engine side of the cover or is it inside the cover and on the fly wheel. the rear main seal will leak into the bellhousing and on the fly wheel the oil pan gasket will leak on the front of the heat sheild.

Starter whines

You could have a bad spot on the flywheel. The flywheel is a plate with a ring of teeth the gear on the starter engages. If you turn the crankshaft a few inches and the starter works, I would check the flywheel.
Otherwise, it could be a mounting problem with the starter, or something keeping the bendix gear from engaging.

My car wont start? i had the starter check and they told me it was good.all it does you just hear the starter spining not the engine.

Sounds like the bendix, the part that pops up and catches the the teeth of the flywheel, isn't catching the flywheel.
Since you've had the starter checked and it was good...I'd say look at the teeth of the flywheel.
I suspect worn or broken teeth on flywheel.

Hope this helps...

I replaced a freeze plug on my 95' dodge intrepid and I still have water leaking. Is there a freeze plug in the back of the engine by the flywheel? If so what do i have to do to change it or where would...

Do you see where the water is comeing out? If its a freeze plug missing it should be gushing out. Are you sure its a freeze plug and not a radiator or a hose ,,,,Look for leaks while car is running and after you shut it off

Where is the crankshaft sensoe on 1994 3.3 intrepid

The sensor is located on the transmission bell housing.
Basically it points at the flywheel. There are slots in the flywheel which pass by it and the is wat cause it to pulse.
