In general, and I said this before, the chances of having 4 oxygen sensors go bad at the same time is like getting 4 flat tires at the same time. VERY LITTLE. If you went to a service station for the repair, go back and tell the mechanic to sell his tools and open up a frankfurter stand! O2 sensors are the most misdiagnosed sensors on a motor vehicle. Read the attached URL.

You have to go to see a real auto technician that has all the diagnostic equipment needed to find the problem and, most importantly, is honest. Ask other motorist you know where they take their vehicles to get an idea.

As an auto technician for almost 40 years and owning my own business, this advice I'm giving you is because I was always the tech that had to fix debacles such as this where the customer went to a shoemaker first!

Good luck!

Codes po171 , po136

PO171 is the 1st o2 sensor on bank 1. With that said a vacuum leak will also throw this same code so before I go changing an o2 sensor I would completely go over the engine and look for a vacuum line or intake leak. PO136 is the o2 sensor bank 1 the second sensor in the exhaust. Again here are some of the things that can cause this code. ( I always look for a vacuum leak somewhere first)

PO174 AND PO171\

code p 0171 refers to system too lean bank1===causes ---intake /exhaust leaks--AIR system---MAF/VAF sensors --fuel pressure/pump--injector/S=== HO2S
code p 0174 refers to system too lean bank 2====causes intake /exhaust leak---fuel pressure/pump---injector/s---AIR system---hose connection/s
the fuel pressure is adequate
The HO2S is the heated oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold /pipe before the cat converter
( is responsible for the fuel ratio settings )
you may have to pull the injectors to have them cleaned and tested
the maf/vaf sensor may have to be replaced as well

Gives me a code po171 then when i kill it it want starte til it cools

This is a Code that the system is too lean on Bank1. If you have a bad intake gasket leak on Bank1 it can generate this code. There can also be an inaccurate O2 sensor reading from a Bank1 sensor saying the fuel mix is too rich and then causing the ECM to lean out the mix. As long as the bad O2 sensor operates within its "range" no O2 code will be generated.

For the intake leak, while the engine is running. take a spray water bottle and spray along the intake gasket. Any hesitation or stalling will reveal the air leak.

Since it takes a cooldown to rectify the problem, Temperature sensors could be bad and forcing a lean condition. The O2 sensors are also affected by heat.

Po171 po174 restricted performance

Common fault is leaking gasket on intake manifold towards the back, do you have the following symptoms - uneven idle - sudden cut out on idle but starts up again with no problem?
If so you will find a leak on the inlet manifold. The codes show a leak after the MAF- so this is the area to check. Hope this helps.

Engine too lean code po171 bank 1 (actually two codes-both the same thing)

Almost always caused by a vacuum leak, look for a damaged hose, or one that has become disconnected. It can also be caused by a leaking intake gasket or a leaking exhaust manifold before the O2 sensor.

Check to make sure all vacunm hoses and lines are correctly in place. A Lean code generally means that air is getting in past Mass Air Flow Sensor.Upstream O2 sensors read exhaust b4 Cat converter.
