Does not always go in Reverse. Have to sometimes go all the way down to 1st and then put in reverse. Also changing gears is getting a little rough, what could be wrong?

this case you have damge with suport (middle suport btween engine and trans. or gear box )
second , if you have damge with lower arm bushing . you can test , by open hood start try shift revese look engine and trans . will move too mach to front or rear this middle suport have damge .if this move is littil . look to front wheel while shifting ,all wheel will move to fr/orr if the lower arm bushing is damage .try this test with helpper.

I have a 2002 ford explore , the revese lights will not go on when in revese gear ??? have changed neutral saftey switch, cheched bulbs wiring, sockets.

When a driver engages the reverse gear he or she automatically switches the reverse light on by triggering the switch on and if the lights are not coming on it means that a number of reasons are to blame. I will start with fuses and the wiring around the switch. Thank you for using fixya!

Transmission won't go move in frist. no revese. can't push it backwards no matter what gear.

It sounds the sprag clutch in the transmission has locked up. Will it move if you put it in 2nd? If you put the shifter in 2nd on a Ford it will start out in 2nd and stay in 2nd. The trany is going to have come out.

1976 corvette shifter locked up, goes in revese & neutral only

You're going to have to crawl underneath it, and see what's going on. Your linkage has probably come loose, and the shifter is sliding on the rod, instead of changing gears like it should.

It is very difficult to engage the first gear of my skoda fabia

Exchange the transmission fluid with a synthetic lube for easier engagement. Shift to second first before shifting to first helps as well.
