SOURCE: Power running board failure

This is not really solving the problem, but my dealer told me that they could unplug the harness to keep the running boards in the down postion. The running boards have to be in the down position to make this happen.

SOURCE: 2006 mercury mountaineer interior lights will not shut off

There is some problem with the door switch(s) which should turn the lights off when the door is closed. Look closely at the switch and make sure that the proper contact is being made within the switch. There could be corrosion.

SOURCE: I have a 2006 mountaineer with power running boards

If you have a information menu in the dash, besides all of the gas mileage and trip functions- there is another menu.
On this menu you are able to set the horn to chirp when setting the alarm, park assist for the mirrors and so forth. One of the functions should be the on/off for the running boards. We had a Lincoln Aviator without running boards, but I believe I read about it in the owners manual. The setting was probably lost when you changed the battery.

Replacing thermostat on 2006 mercury mountaineer 4.6

Go to youtube.com to see a video of this. Usually a simple job, but make sure you get the thermostat in right with the copper pellet side toward the engine.
Main problem people have in general is they let the thermostat slip down out of place and tighten it up, breaking the thermostat housing.
Do the job cold, a hot engine only lends to making mistakes. don-ohio (:^)

2002 mercury mountaineer on e window not working

All the windows are on the same fuse, if the other windows are working fine, it's not a fuse issue. I susppect the motor or the window regulator.
With your ear close to the door panel, press the window switch up and down, if you hear the motor and grinding noises then the window regulator needs to be replaced, if you don't hear anything then the motor is bad OR no power is getting to the motor. either way you will have to take the door panel off and to fix.

Wipers stays up when off they don't lay down.

Solved!!
I fix it on two montana . i Sit an afternoon to realise olly drop of oil is needed!!
So look at this: Open the hoot and locate the disk on the top of the wiper motor . When it run it turn allways in the same direction. when it goes to park the motor go to revese and during these process a little arm under these disk jam the one under and reverse rotation to park the wiper arm .
So look carefully at the disk .You can see there two disk stick together. put oil to unsqeeze it . you can do it when engine is off....
Enjoy it:
