When going to turn the key and the wheel is locked, try wiggling the steering wheel left and right while turning the key at the same time.

SOURCE: Multiple Electrical Problems Occurred At Same

Check under the back seat in the electrical box for a blown fuse or relay. You may just have to take this into a good shop to track it down. It sounds like you might have a blown diode in a common ground somewhere, but I cannot tell you where from where I'm sitting.

SOURCE: My mechanic stated that the ignition lock cylinder on my 2003 Buick Century could be causing the battery to go dead because you can remove the key from the ignition in any position. Battery, alternato

Why would you not have the key cylinder replaced,
if that is even the problem ?

That makes no sense to use a car like that

Now your new battery will go dead & be ruined

Have you replaced the battery lately? If so , you could have a bad battery in your key. It is a small microchip in some cares and will effect unlocking and starting the car if the battery is weak or dead.

Key will not turn or open any doors

Got the right key? Is this a new buy for you? Does it work in ignition? If so then the ignition lock's been changed and you don't have the door key.
Or dead battery in fob, if you mean the remote function. (Frozen door lock barrels? Penetrating oil soak for an hour or 2)

Sorry that's all I can think of given the info provided.

Battery went dead in 2007 Chevy Silverado truck. Now, remote does not work. Replaced battery in remote and it still does not work.

Make sure you have one working ignition key and all remotes for the vehicle.

1) Close all vehicle doors.
2) Insert the key into the ignition.
3) Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold down until instructed to release in step 9.
4) Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.
5) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine).
6) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
7) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
8) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
9) Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors automatically.
10) Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until the door locks and unlocks. This step may take up to 30 seconds.
11) Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing transmitters).
12) Turn the ignition switch OFF then to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

2005 Colorado drivers side window and remote locking system

Just figured it out and replicated it 3 times..

any type of power/voltage change seems to trigger this issue

The most common symptom is power locks fail and only the driver window quits, however that is on the extended cab.

Steps to fix and it works every time.

take door panel off driver's door
Disconnect the wiring attached to window and power lock control unit
disconnect battery cables
connect the negative to the positive cable(((NO BATTERY CONNECTED)))
This will act to short residual voltage in the system

5 minutes later
place the key in the ignition and turn to the run position
connect the wiring to the window/lock controller
connect the negative cable to the battery
then the positive
open drivers side door
turn key to the off position((do not remove yet)) you should get a series of dings through speakers telling you the key is still in the ignition
once it begins dinging pull the key out and you should hear the door lock solenoids trigger and the windows should work.

Three years and a very unhappy girlfriend who owns the truck. but she's happy now.

the lock on the driver side could be damaged or some on might have used a jimmy to open that door before how evr you have to open the pannel and remove the lock cylinder part and make sure that the key is working or yo must change the tumbler s in the lock to fit your key (lock smith)
