And if your Taurus is really a much newer one, and the security system has totally deactivated the vehicle - not sure. May have to call FORD dealership and ask. Ford might be able to reactivate the vehicle remotely by communicating with it.

Not sure what you mean exactly. Is this really about a 1995 (?) Taurus? My 2000 Taurus had a feature which automatically locked all the doors - after a short time delay - as a personal security feature - with the key in the ignition, engine running, in drive - like 30 sec or so after driving down the road - and you are inside the vehicle - CLUNK ! all the doors would "auto lock" . But this started to become a bit of a nuisance. Vehicle would keep locking the doors, and then I would have to keep unlocking them, to let the passenger back in - and I did not like that "auto lock" feature - it was unnerving / annoying / bit of a nuisance actually.
So - I asked someone - they said there was a way to de-activate it - I don't remember exactly how I deactivated it on my car right now - but with a simple procedure that you yourself can do. Something like switching the key from OFF to RUN a number of times quickly - I forget exactly. BUT IT WAS IN THE CAR MANUAL. TRY TO READ IN THE CAR MANUAL WHAT THE EXACT PROCEDURE MIGHT BE ON YOUR MAKE AND YEAR OF VEHICLE - TO DEACTIVATE THE AUTOLOCK SECURITY FEATURE. OR GIVE A QUICK CALL TO A DEALERSHIP - MIGHT BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU A TIP. Maybe someone else here can remember the exact procedure on a 1995 (?) Ford Taurus - and let you know here.

Hi Carol , do you mean PATS passive antitheft system ? Locked up your car ,do you mean it won't crank over an start ?
The passive anti-theft system uses radio frequency identification technology to deter a driveaway theft. Passive means that it does not require any activity from the user.

  • During each vehicle start sequence, the ignition key identification code is requested by the vehicle protection anti-theft electronics.
  • If the key's ID code has been programmed into the system, the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) is signaled to enable the vehicle to start.
  • If the key's ID code is not programmed into the system, or if no encoded key is detected, then the powertrain control module is signaled to disable the vehicle.
The passive anti-theft system communicates the state of the security system to the powertrain control module via the J-1850 communications network data link connector (DLC). The powertrain control modulebased on the communications from the passive anti-theft system, will determine if the vehicle's engine is enabled to start. The passive anti-theft system differs from the active anti-theft alarm system in that the passive anti-theft system enables/disables the vehicle from starting and only operates with the ignition switch in RUN/START position. The active anti-theft alarm system has perimeter protection capabilities and operates only with the ignition switch OFF. Refer to Section 13-11A for active anti-theft alarm system information.
Vehicle Disabling The passive anti-theft system will be activated and disable the vehicle from starting if any of the following conditions exist:
  • damaged encoded key
  • unprogrammed key
  • non-encoded key (key has no electronics)
  • wiring concern
  • transceiver concern
  • Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) control module concern
  • J-1850 Communications Network concern
  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

I have a 2005 cobalt every time I open the doors the alarm goes off I replaced the battery in keyless entry but they do not work can anyone help?

You may have accidentally broke the controller. They are fragile. The newer cars like yours automatically set the alarm when the doors are locked from keychain remote, or locking manually. New remote, $50-100.

A 2004 Dodge Stratus blew the door lock fuse (15amp). Replaced it with another 15amp and it blew again. Replaced it with a 25amp and it works fine. What should be replaced so the 15amp will work again

Why would you replace a fuse with a larger one ?

Trying to burn the car down ?

Need to test the door lock solenoid inside the door,
to see if that is the reason the fuse blows

If your putting in larger fuses, you surely should not
be working on vehicles or anything with electrical current

My power window and door locks fuse keeps blowing.

When the fuse blows figure out what you are doing, what switch is being pressed, then remove the needed panels to access the wiring to the switch and motor it operates, then you will find the damaged wiring and repair the short, no quick fix, just hard grunt work.

did your car come equipped with prolock? prolock starter kill can become defective and prevent your car from starting. or it can be your ignition switch. I had a defective ignition switch and the van 's fuel pump would turn on but no start...

05 altima wife took it parts store to replace interior light .she replaced it,but bulb went out in a couple sec. pulled fuses, they where good. NOW.car starts but wont shift out of park unless the shift...

if the car does not shift out of park, check all your fuses first, try checking the brake fuse first, when you step on the brake pedal it releases the shifter, if it doesnt shift into the gears you most likely blew a fuse

I have a 57 plate 3 series, the doors will nit unlock but will lock with the remote, also the passenger door and rear doors have deadlocked, can you help?

Hi , this sounds like the fuse has blown for the central locking due to a hi amp draw from a fault lock , depending on the country that you are in you will need to find the fuse for the central locking , for european cars the fuse will be #57 or #72 it will be a 15amp fuse that will nead to be changed to a yellow 20 amp fuse , once the blown fuse is replaced , insert the romote key in its slot and turn the ignition on , then remove the key , open and close the drivers door and the central locking should then work , if this fault re-occures then 1 or more door lock will nead to be replaced, hope this is of some help , regards mark.
