FORD FREESTAR ENGINE CUTS OUT AT 30MPH

Often times a vehicle sitting for an extended length of time with less than a full tank of gas will tend to condensate moisture from the air. This generally will accumulate at the top of the tank and virtually rain-shower down into the tank over time. Filling the tank with gas causes the water to intersperse with the gas but will eventually settle to the bottom as gas is lighter than water. You now have water in your fuel system and your gas tank where it will very soon start to rust creating all sorts of havoc with clogged fuel filters, etc. There are a couple of simple solutions to try first, try a very high concentration of isopropyl alcohol...hospital grad of 95% is best. This will bond with the water and combine with the gas to form a 'burnable' liquid. Since it sat so long, you may need to go a step further and try another pour-in solution such as Sea Foam.
If that fails, you may have clogged injectors which requires a bit more effort. There are injector cleaning kits that run about 100 and hook up to your fuel rail. Most of these inexpensive fixes will not remove rust debris from the very fine filter found atop an injector body.
Additionally, I am a bit concerned that you may be experiencing an electrical problem that is summarized in a recall post at: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1100c0/10. Long story short, start with the simple/cheap stuff (change out fuel, clean/replace fuel filter, etc.) then incrementally move toward the more complex/expensive. Good luck!

I have a 98 CHEV PU 305v8. Had changed the fuel pressure regulator about 10 mo ago for flooding problems which fixed it. After about 2 months it became very difficult to start after the truck sits for

This problem is caused by a failed fuel pump outlet pressure check valve, it is part of the pump and not sold as a separate part. The defective check valve lets the fuel pressure bleed off and drain back to the fuel tank, when you go to start it the line must be filled and the injectors purged of air, this takes time and causes hard starting. The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to replace the pump and sending unit assembly

My 2006 Colorado has intermittent starting problems. It will just crank and crank as if it were out of gas or electrical problems. Let it sit for 10 minutes it starts right up as if nothings wrong, and...

You can check Edmunds.com for possible recalls. I suspect bad or sticky oil pressure switch. Reason; Oil pressure switch is also a safety that controls your fuel pump. When oil pressure drops like in an accident or rollover, it cuts electric fuel pump off. Have you had it into a dealer for diagnosis??? Another note: when was last "healthy" tune up? Plugs, wires, All fluids & filters including fuel filter? You didn't mention mileage.

I drive my car 4 five minutes turn it off then i have to let it sit 4 an hour before it will start again it looses spark . would it have anything to do with the coil

I SEEN ENGINE FLOODING DUE TO LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS.THAT WILL MAKE CAR HARD TO START BACK UP WHEN ENGINE HOT.BUT TRY THIS CHANGE AIR FILTER.FILL FUEL TANK UP ADD A CAN OF SEAFOAM IN THE FUEL TANK IT WILL CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS SEE IF THIS MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

My 1991 honda accord won't start after it has been

Start with this at the time it wont start and only cranks over squirt some starting fluid in the intake if it starts and then dies out you have a fuel problem. If youve never changed out the fuel filter that would be a good place to start. If after you squirt some starting fluid in it and it doesnt even start check for spark at the plugs then at the coil and so on. Dont get to stuck on the relay if the relay was bad it wouldnt even start also if you have a way to check the fuel pressure check it and make sure its within specs.

My 1997 nissan truck has been sitting and won't start

How long has it been sitting? After several months the gas breaks down and goes bad. I have let a car sit for a year, and start w/out a problem, but any longer than that, and you will probably have to drop the gas tank and clean it out, along w/ the fuel lines, and check the fuel pump, as it may be plugged up. Last, change the fuel filter.

1995 LINCOLN WONT START

Perhaps when the fuel pump was replaced, the filter was not replaced, or the dirt in the tank was not cleaned out. Sometimes these problems are a result of the filter getting clogged up and fuel is not able to reach the fuel rail. The car sits for a while, the sediment falls from the filter, it then starts and runs for a time, all the while, little by little, the sediment recollects and starves the fuel rail again.

1992 Chrysler LeBaron 3.0 L. V6 Engine runs beautifully but after 16-20 miles highway driving engine stalls as if flooded, or as if fuel is cut-off. After sitting for a few minutes, will start and run...

the owner probably rerouted the fuel line because like my 92 chrysler lebaron v6 3.0 the fuel lines keep seeming to come off and the clamps always break. I have replaced the clamps 5 times in a month and replaced filters 2 times in 2 months. The only thing i could think of is that your fuel is being cut off possibly because there is no filter to clean all the junk out. Try putting a fuel filter on and see if that will work
