SOURCE: helle there are 8 coils i have a problem iam

Standing in front of the car, cylinder 1 is the first one on your left. Ignition coil E is the first one on your right. FYI, the left runs front to fire wall 1,2,3,4 or A, B, C, D. The right runs front to fire wall 5,6,7,8 or E,F,G.H. Hope this helps. From Pancarib

Hi, when sitting on my 1986 cb700 nighthawk do the cylinder numbers start from left to right as 1234 and does left coil go to 1 & 4 and right coil to 2 & 3 ? Many thanks. Brian

The coil with the yellow lead from the pulser supplies sparks to the inboard cylinders. The coil with the blue lead supplies sparks to the outboard cylinders. That is all the rules needed, as the coils fire both cylinders though one is on the compression stroke while the other is on the exhaust stroke.

Had codes run on my 2001 Jaguar s-type 4.0. Was told it said misfire in cylinder 6. Where is cylinder 6 loacted in the firing line?

  • Below is the firing order. As you look at the engine from the front #6 is on the right side second cylinder from the front.

  • This is a coil on plug set up. That means the wires wont just pull up like some engines. There will be a bolt (probably 8mm or 10mm) that will need to be removed then the coil can be removed up and out. At this point the spark plug will be removable with a deep socket and a ratchet.

  • The misfire could be the plug, coil wire or a crack in the coils.
  • Some things to try is replacing that plug and clear the code and see if it returns.
  • Swap coil wires and see if the code follows the placing of the coil wire that was on # 6.
  • Swap the coil packs and see if the code switches to the other side of the engine.

Need to replace sparkplug wires.I had my plug wires ripped out of my car now I need to replace them in the right firing order.

The 3800 after 1984 is 'distributorless' so you have six "firing coils" located on the front of the engine and numbered for your convenience. looking at the 'front' of the engine which is where all the pulleys and the serpentine belt is viewing from the passenger side fender, the cylinders are numbered #1 on your right then #2 on your left and alternate right left from front to rear of the motor to connect your wires.

I think the firing order is not correct on my 89 beretta V6

firing order for the 2.8 and 3.1 engines is 1 2 3 4 5 6. if you got plugs wires out of place left from right of coil pack..this is where your wires will go from coil pack to plugs.1 4 6 3 2 5 . now looking at your engine.rear cylinders left from right is 1 3 5 your front cylinder left to right is 2 4 6 now firing order for 2.0 - 2.2L - 2.3 engines is 1 3 4 2 . looking at 2.3 engine left to right cylinders is 1 2 3 4 .now the 2.0 2.2L engine cylinders left to right is 4 3 2 1.if you got coil wires mixed up.looking at coil pack facing you first would be 1 4 3 2 .this is the cylinders wires will go.
