Question about 2010 Volkswagen Polo 1.2

Why do I have an intermittent problem with ABS and power steering lights?

While driving ABS light and brake light comes on for a few seconds, beeps 3 times an goes off... power steering light occasionally comes on and will go off after restarting car.. Head lights dim out when slowing down, the interior light flickers constantly when on some times when we go to start the car on the 3rd turn there is nothing there at all but if you hold the key for a few seconds it will start up. We have had it to several garages who have found no error codes until recently but we have had a new ignition switch fitted, brand new battery an alternator check, also had all the earth points cleaned. The error codes we have got now are; 01288 terminal 30 steering assist signal too high- intermittent. 00532 supply voltage B+ intermittent 01314 engine control module read trouble codes -intermittent. 18265 load signal error message from ECU p1857 - intermittent. Please help!

Bad or loose intermittent wire connections to and from sensors. Some unauthorised mechanic has been working on the car? Take it back and talk to the service manager, or the shop owner.

all the stuff started happening before anyone touched it, everything we have had done was to try and rectify the problem as no one can find the cause, when we had the new battery put on it didnt do anything for a few days but started again with a vengence after. all interior lights flicker even the indicator light flickers when on .. We had sensors checked yesterday an they are fine???

Why does my battery light and brake light come on while I'm driving and the power steering shuts off?

The motor is shutting off, better find the problem before it dies while you are pulling out in front of a semi and you end up dead.

Anti lock has nothing to do with it. the brakes operate without ABS. run the motor then turn it off. pull the vacume hose off the power booster and listen for a suction sound. if none. plug it back and start the car. pull the hose and put your thumb on it. it should ****. the booster depends on vacume to work. If you have vacume to the booster and the pedal is hard, change the booster.(scrap yard)

'Volkswagen Polo 1.9TDi 74KW, 2006 model sedan. Instrument cluster will reset, all lights come on sometimes with a loud beep sometimes with the horn also. It started first when I turn steering wheel to max either side then the airbag light will come on and I will loose power steering, then when switch off and restart all is fine but all counters are reset on the instrument cluster. Most recent incident when I was driving on highway and slacking off to take an exit then all the lights on dash was lit, lost power steering and loud beeping and I switched off engine and restarted (while freeing at high speed) then all OK again. Seems to happen more frequently but intermittent.' - has been answered - "'I had the same problem after I had my car serviced, the problem with the power steering was that the signal to the power steering pump was set to high and the pump cut out because it was receiving an incorrect signal, the instruments reseting was found that alot of the ground wires was loose, for some reason the abs sensor was also not adjusted correctly which made the abs light come on as well. I took the car to another service centre and they adjusted the abs sensor and the signal to the pump and checked all my wirring - had no problems since - Christiaan from South Africa'"

My ABS, brake and oil lights keep coming on at the same time, flashing for a few minutes and then going back off. This happens very randomly, sometimes lasting for seconds, sometimes lasting for up to 20...

Its exactly the abs module! and its keeping the ecu from communicating with the rest of the car, when you remove the module your tac will come back alive and the oil light will turn off. There is way to trick the ecu to thinking the abs module is working but it involves taking out the module, it is fairly simple. My email address is superbikevoodoo@yahoo.com, email me, and I will give you pictures and instructions on what to do. Its really easy, your abs and break light will go off along with the beeping!

ABS light and brake light on

there are 2 options, ABS module is most likely, I just had my ABS module remanufactured and it worked greate when i re-installed.

the second option is the wheel sensor could have a bad connection(may have been bumped when your bearing got looked at.

there are a few companies that repair ABS modules, i used modulemasters, they did a good job, i can not vouch for any of the other companies.

I had the brake light switch replaced by a local dealer. Cost was $140 and it fixed the problem. Have driven the car for two weeks since and no lights and all systems normal.
