Question about 1998 Dodge Dakota
The 360 and 318 are basically the same engine except the 318 is externally balanced and the 360 is internally balanced be sure when you do the swap get the flywheel and comes with the balancer i believe they are the same from 96-01 before they went to the 4.7 engine

This is likely:
- your alternator with either a loose/shorted connection or bad ground or,
- your voltage regulator is malfunctioning (which is probably in the alternator) or,
- your alternaotr is well connected but is malfunctioning.

Dodge did not put "alarm systems" on there trucks during that generation all there is, is an keyless entry and panic button. anything else is aftermarket
