Plugs leads or coils breaking down when warm. Or it could be tight valves when the motor warms everything expands abe if there is not enough clearance in the valves they don't close fully and allow combustion pressure to leak out. To test this do a compression test when hot and cold and compare.

SOURCE: missfire

Locate you computer (right front kick panel) and tap on it with a pen while the car idles... Also flex it back and forth with your hands to see if the car runs rough or quits... You may need a new one.

SOURCE: 1997 Ford Escort losses power

Do you have a blown head gasket? Just a guess. If you do this is one of the symptoms. You may have some coolant in your oil. Check your inside the valve cover for water by looking in through the oil cap.

SOURCE: The engine sputters and dies when it heats up. Is

sounds like the reason it starts and idles fine at start up is your choke is functioning... as your vehicle warms up.. the choke starts to kick off... Inspect your throttle body and idle control motor.

Car loses power, exhaust heats up and sputters

This could be a clogged catalytic converter, or physical damage to the exhaust system. Many auto shops will check stuff like that for free, or a small diagnostic fee which they apply to the cost of the repair if you have them do the work.
You look under the car and see if any of the exhaust piping is bent or pinched blocking the flow. For the catalytic converter. After dark run the engine unit it starts to get hot then look under the car to see if any part of the exhaust is glowing orange or red. Be sure not to let the engine get too hot. If the Cat is clogged it will be glowing by the time the engine reaches normal operating temp.

My 2007 Impala 3.9l has bad issue. On cold start if you try to drive it has no power, spits and sputters and the rpm gauge quits working, warmed up for 10 minutes car runs fine

Going with power lose. Check the grounds. Main three are from the battery to engine, battery to body, and engine to body. I wold check for codes, even if the light is not on. There could be some pending.

what is water temp in engine coolant, at failure? less than 150F?
could be lots of things.
leaking injectors, bad fuel.
injector sticking> causing misfire.
id use a scan tool and watch all sensor when it fails.
too high fuel pressure.
misfires cold, but only luke warm cold starts not fully cold.

just one DTC, no P0300 or 30x misfire codes, not even P0300 pendings?

2008 Nissan Maxium keeps losing air in tires as soon as it gets cold

air contracts in colder air temps and is normal that tires could be a little lower but should be fine when you start driving as the air heats up..if its just one tire check for a leak or something in the tire(small screw, nail) that would cause air to leak out in the cold temps. if all tires are doing that check valve stems and tighten them with valve stem tool available at any auto parts store. If tires were replaced they might not have replaced the valve stems and that could be it too.

Bmw 316i had a service a week ago but car losing power when first started up.. Once it heats up the car seems fine. Any ideas

is it just idling roughly or hesitate when accelerating? You may have a clogged cold start injector in which you could have poor performance before the vehicle heats up to its operating temp but once it reaches its peak temp will run fine. Did your servicing include a tune up and/or fuel system cleaning if not I would recommend one.

Seems like its choking

first you have to check for code with scanner , sounds like you have sensor problem , (coolant temp sensor map sensor etc). it could be a fuel delivery issue like lean condition . but the code for engine light will guide you in right direction. good luck

Car shuts off when getting up to running temp.

All I can say is that I had the same problem. It turned out to be a Temp problem with the distributor.

Here's what I did to catch the culprit.I started it and let it run in the yard. Then I took a hair dryer and applied heat to various components. When I got to the distributor with the hair dryer, and left it there for a few minutes it sputtered and stalled. I then applied some ice cubes in a towel to the distributor and it started right up. Replace the distributor with a junk yard distributor and it ran several more years.
As a retired electrical engineer, my theory to what happened is this. as the temp rose one of the transistor leads inside the transistor lifted off its connection and broke the circuit when I cooled it down with ice it made contact again.

The tough part of this is to isolate the problem.

Good luck, Hope this helps Loringh
