If it starts no problem and runs there are 2 possible areas to look at
first is an air leak in the system ( in doubt as if there was air in the system it would not start first time)
The second is the stop solenoid control circuit
It may be faulty or the solenoid is over heating and not allowing the pump to turn on
(Most likely) Have an accredited auto electrician with experience on your engine and vehicle to test the circuitry for the start /stop system

glow plugs are activated if look on the dash when you turn the ignition just before cranking and you should see a light that stays on for several seconds then goes out and then you should crank the engine ! sometimes when its really cold or the glow plugs are worn try turning the ignition on and off each time light goes out 2 or 3 times to get more heat on the plugs then start ! if this doesnt work then glow plus and system needs checking !

Have a load test done on the batter to check for failing cells. For diesels to start any thing less than a fully charged battery good battery is a waste of time as the engine needs fast RPM to heat the air to ignite the fuel and slow rpm's just doesn't cut it.

96 non turbo diesel turning over but wont start, why?

Probably not. One of the pulleys that is not turning is a vacuum pump. You need that part to work and it must turn. Most of the timing parts run off of a heavier chain.

Some sensors are mounted around the crankshaft and/or camshaft. When a belt breaks it can pull off small sensor wires and even break the sensors.

(TOYOTA SURF 1990 TURBO DIESEL) No diesel coming out of fuel pump

If it has glow plugs or an intake heater you will need to disable the circuit. Then you can use a small amount of ether to spray into the air cleaner.!!! If you spray too much and/or Dont disable the circuits you can damage the motor!!! When you spray the ether, if the engine starts and stalls then its not getting fuel. This could be related to the fuel pump, injection pump, the fuel system loosing its prime(fuel line leak), fuel shut-off valve or solenoid. If it doesn't start then it could be related to your timing, valves or maybe compression.

check air hoses from turbo to air box if any holes it will be sucking in too mutch air and bypassing the airflow meter situated in hose this will cause the fault to occure.
