There are 2 methods for idler pulleys
all require to loosen the big nut holding the pulley on
some have a bolt at the back of the bracket behind the puller that you rotate either way to adjust off or on
others have a cog that runs on a rack that you turn up or down for the adjustment
remember to re-tension the big nut when finished as the method of adjustment is for adjustment only and is not sufficient to hold the pulley in position

Timing adjustment for a 1987 buck century estate wagon 3.8 liter v-6

On older vehicles... loosen the bolt holding the distributer and turn a little clockwise or counter clockwise. If you have a timing light plug it into the spark plug wire of the #1 cylinder and look for the timing marks on the front of the harmonic balancer. But you could just wing it without a light.

Where is the crankshaft positioning sensor located on a '92 buick century w/a 3.3 ci & how do you replace it.

Behind the large pulley at the lower part of your motor. You have to remove the belt and then loosen the large bolt that holds it in place. Use a pulley puller to remove the harmonic balancer. With that off, loosen the screw that holds the bracket to the mount. Position the new bracket on the mount and tighten. Be sure that the gaps in the new sensor are postioned correctly. Replace balancer and belt and you should be good to go.

How to change a water pump on a 1999 Buick Century 3100?

the water pump on the 3.1 isnt to hard to change ...
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
  3. Remove the drive belt guard.
  4. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts before removing the drive belt. This should help keep the pulley from turning as the bolts are loosened.
  5. Remove the drive belt. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and remove the pulley.
  6. Remove the water pump bolts and separate the pump from the engine front cover.
