Why won't my drivers side window roll up when i push the button?

My 1998 ford explorer driver side power window will not roll back up! :-(

From your description it sounds like the motor is drawing too many amps and a circuit breaker is opening (to protect the motor). That could be from one of two things: a failing motor or a bad set of gears or some other hindrance that is causing the motor to work too hard. Auto circuit breakers generally reset themselves after everything cools down. Since it happened on more than one window it could also be that the circuit breakers are getting old and less reliable meaning that they will continue to fail more often. The symptoms do not suggest a broken wire

I don't know anything about your vehicle but I do know I bet the makers, the assemblers who assembled your car at the factory and auto elections know what's wrong. Researching libraries the manuals for your car in stock can be a help as web pages including youtube may have some interesting videos on your problem.

The window may have come of the track, if you can hear the motor, it's probably fine. If the window moves around freely, it's most likely of track.

there is a neutral switch tied into the transmission, the transfer case will not shift into 4 hi unless the trans is in neutral or park, and 4low only if the trans is in Neutral and the transfer case is in 4hi. CHECK- transmission neutral switch, transfercase feedback switches.

My 1998 Explorer (4 door XLT) has the driver side window stuck in the down position. All other power windows work and I am getting power at the switch to take window down but no power to roll up. Any ideas...

Yes, we had both motors fail on the drivers side front and rear windows.
If you disconnect the motor from the switch you can test the terminals on the switch. If both sets of terminals are hot the motor should go both directions. If only 1 set is hot, most likely it is the switch. You can try to jump the motor from the working side of the switch and see if the motor will now go up. If it does go up, then the switch was bad.
Or you can verify by using a primary power source in the door wiring or fuse panel and bypass the switch.

If the motor does not work right and you are handy, you may be able to resolder the connections and fix the motor.
