Agree, check battery first... load test, not just a voltage reading test

my local autozone or advance auto parts stores will do this test in the parking lot FOR FREE!

while you're there, ask for a charging system test to make sure your alternator is working. a good parts counterperson will also put his hand to the drivebelt and check if that belt is visually worn

AFTER those 2 are ruled out to be OK, then you will have to trace which circuit is giving you a "parasitic draw" google that term for more info

If the battery dies after a full charge , I would say your battery is knackered. Each time it dies, it will take out info on the electronic engine management system. Car batteries only last 2 to 3 years max nowadays. Try a new battery and the management system should "reboot" and get your car going again.

wow that's incorrect about battery life. today's decent branded batteries last at least 5 years

she probably has a "parasitic load" after he rules out that the battery and alternator are in working order

Er ok, I go through a good battery roughly every 2.5 to 3 years. Its a daily driver with reasonably big mileage per year with lots of on /offs. 6 cylinder gas (LPG) only. It all depends on brand quality and how the car is used of course. You are correct of course about the alternator. If one of the diodes is on its way out, it can allow a bleed off the battery and it will go flat pretty quick..

Kia shuts off while driving

If recharging the battery makes it start/go again then its a fault in the charging/battery circuit.
Solution 1. Check alternator. It should read over 14 volts across the battery terminals with engine at tick over. If its below that its the alternator thats faulty
Solution 2. Try a different battery known to be good. any size will do for a couple of days. Batteries sometimes only last 2-3 years. yoyrs could have been on since 2006!!!!!!

If I disconnect the positive terminal for 10min. will it reset my computer on my 02 Aztek

You do not need to remove a battery cable for any length of time

Once it is off ,you loss module voltage & all stored codes

The problem is you need to know what else you loose
Every manufacture is different

You may loose the radio & have no code or knowledge
to ever get it working again

You may have to do drive cycles to get the car to shift or idle

Your best to use a code reader to clear malfunction codes

When you replace a battery, have a battery pack on the cables,
so you never loose computer power

To be really safe ,never jump a dead battery

Hook up the battery pack ,remove the cables & then
try to charge the battery by it's self or replace

Clearing codes & making your dash light go away, is
NOT Resetting anything or fixing anything

Car dies won't restart. cranks over, has full battery, lights etc but acts like it is not getting gas. towed three or four times to GM dealership and they hook it up to computer and find nothing. No codes...

Is it fuel related or what . when it wont restart have you tried spraying some stater fluid in it for 3 seconds to see if it starts. If it starts and goes dead it will be fuel related. Do this test a couple of times and you should get the same results. If it doesnot not it will be electrical. Distributor is what i would replace first. or coil .Good Luck!!!

That code is a Throttle Position Malfunction code.

This means one of two things:
1. The throttle body needs replaced
2. After the dead battery, you need to adapt the the throttle body.

The cheap way to do this is to leave the driver's door open, turn the key to the on position, but do not start the car. You will hear the throttle body self-adjust. This may take up to 2 minutes. That should get it close enough. To get it perfect requires a trip to the dealership.

If it does not help, the throttle body might be dead.

Check engine light on 97 intrepid

Yes, the Computer, on your car detects, all sensors . I, would recommend going to Auto Zone,
and have a Code Reader , recheck your car after
you disconnect negative battery cable, for at least 5 minutes, will wipe out memory and reset problem codes, after you start engine. You will start a new set of any problem codes.

P.S. Auto Zone, no charge for Code Reader, a Dealer will charge at least $ 75.00 for a 5 second read ! Not !!! get it read for free.

ABS light just came on, is it an easy fix. My abs warning light comes on often. It usually stays on until I restart the car, then it might stay off for days but will always relight. Often, I turn the...

The code scanner that you need is called ODBII code reader with ABS, and it works in the same way as the one that you connect to the car computer module (ECU) to read codes when the check engine light comes on, but the cheap ones that you can buy from $50 do not have the ABS brake scan function.

If the problem is the ABS, then it is often a wiring to abs problem, or a defective ABS control module, a scan reading is necessary to know what the problem is.

Below few examples of Code reader with ABS:
