Hi, how do I correct an error code C1446 for a 2011 Smart Fortwo 1L engine? Thank you!

Smart Fortwo C1446 Possible Solution : The crankshaft sensor signals the fuel injection computer or the ignition control when the cylinders are firing. This causes the ignition coil to provide a spark and the injector to inject fuel into each cylinder at the right time.If either sensor isn't working correctly, the car will run rough and the engine will be less efficient. In later car models, the car's computer can usually keep the vehicle running, but the engine warning light on the dashboard goes on to warn the driver

I have an ABS fault on a Smart Forfour (Fixya did not let me enter this) and I have also had the use of a fault code reader. The car has needed a replacement ABS sensor as the cable was damaged and no...

from what you are explaining , sounds like it is the sensor , as it only comes back when you start driving.
try replacing left with right side and see what code you get , if it is the right side after replacement then you are sure it is the sensor. if not check the wiring on the left hand side

My smart key is not working. i opened the door with the key part located inside the fob. is there a way to start the car with this key part? i do not see a key hole

Hello. Your smart key needs the battery replaced.

You can start the car, with a weak smart-key battery.

Position the smart key right above the start button. The Smart-key receiver will communicate with the smart key passively. The smart key must be held on the dash, above the start button.

I can't start the car

The rear hatch has a proximity sensor that senses your "smart key". If any sensor is disconnected, the auto-unlock/lock feature AND the push button start feature will not work. My guess is that the proximity sensor in the hatch got disconnected.
