Question about 2005 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

2005 Buick.. The automatic on and off switch quit working. Has anyone fixed one of these. I believe GM calls it a light sentinal. Available on most high end GM cars.

It was working on my way out to dinner and when I got back in the car after dinner it didn't work.

Check the fuse first. If it's ok then the sentinel module is bad.

lol i'll tell you what to do about the 93 lesabre headlight problem, carry a wrench and disconnect the battery. not optimal but it's what i had to do. don't...kick the headlight button multiple times as i tried to do, it doesn't fix anything. although, as soon as i got used to disconnecting the battery cable, the problem suddenly stopped.

The instrument panel switch is making a ticking noise in !y 1992 Buick lesabre causing the headlights to stay on...killing the battery

Is the noise actually coming from the switch area or coming from under the dash area? Possible daytime running light /twilight sentinal modual shorted out causing your issue. Unplug this module and if the headlights go out, this will be your problem

Why does all power shut off after we changed the electrical ignition switch?

Most electronic ignitions need to be programmed with the tech2 scan tool that is only available at a GM service dept. That is where I would start. call your local dealer to see if this pertains to your vehicle. In the meantime I will research it a little bit more, but I believe a reprogram of the ignition switch to the pcm will cure your problem.

Running lights will not go off

There is a module called the headlamp control module its located under the front carpet area above the centre hump under the heater box area we had a few of these and the relays used to stick keeping the headlight on and would not turn out. Im not to sure about the year though..Its a shot if you unplug the connectors lights will go out..Im assuming you checked the twilight sentinal switch did not get readjusted ,and you turned the parking light switch off on the drivers door panel at the top just under the small window..a fast sounding reminder bell will let you know the switch is on..Im not trying to insult some peoples intelligence but some people who just bought a lesabre dont realize the switches are there because they have always have the automatic headlight operating...Hope this is helpfull good luck..

Twilight Sentinal Malfunction

There is a relay under the dash, on a fuse block with a black plastic cover. Usually the cover is labeled "Fuse and relay center" or "Power and relay center". Inside you'll find several large blade style fuses and quite a few relays. There are normally two or three relays associated with your lighting. In many mid nineties and up GM products, you have a relay for rear lighting, one for front lighting, and a separate relay labeled "DRM" or "DRL". You're looking for that one. This is the daytime running light relay. Odds are that relay has burnt out and needs replaced.
