SOURCE: 2000 Ford Expedition wont start

On the engine there is a tube that supplies fuel to the fuel injectors, on that tube there is a valve, like a metal tire valve, this is the fuel pressure test port, you will need a special guage to check the pressure that screws onto that valve, Kragen and other parts stores sell this test kit, it is very inexpensive, about $20.00, but cheaper than having a shop do it for you, if you do the test and you have no pressure while cranking the engine then your fuel pump is bad, the pump is in the gas tank, a big job and dangerous due to chance of fire if you are not cautious.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Explorer will not start when hot

Sounds like the choke is getting stuck. It's an electric choke. So, clean it and its linkages. Also, check the vacuum for leaks. With 123K, I'd start with a cleaning.

SOURCE: truck cuts off while driving down the road.

Replace the TFI module. Ford back in 1986 thur 1993 had problems like the one you wrote about. TFI module gets hot and shuts car or truck off then when it cools sometmies starts and sometimes not.

Check for vacuum leaks. Also try cleaning the ISV.

If that doesnt work go to and post your issue there

Fuel filter change did not take care of the problem car still shuts down after 20 minutes of running will not start again for about 20 minutes anyone know what the next move maybe

Have a pressure check run on your fuel pump. Sounds like fuel pump is ready to totally fail. Just had this happen on my ford expedition. And that was painful changing out fuel pump. Took 4 hours and was a dirty job too

2006 ford expedition will not start after driving, let it set 30 minutes and it will start right up and runs fine

Have pressure test run on your fuel pump. before fuel pumps fail they have intermittent issues like you described. Mine just did the same as yours and I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. she runs and starts like new.

1998 ford expedition shut,s off when driving and no code,s

sounds like fuel pump is ready to fail. first check and or change fuel filter. if truck still shuts off then time to test fuel pump. first see if it is running by taking off gas cap and turn on key just one notch short of starting truck. if you hear a hum then your pump is working. but then you may have low pressure. if so then your fuel pump needs replaced. I just did this. its about a 4-6 hour job. go to youtube they have a good step by step video on how to do. good luck

I have a 97 expedition and it will start with no problem but when i drive and the suv and it gets to the normal tempeture and i turn the car off it will not start i have to wait for 20 min or more until...

I would say your starter is faulty. Since the vehicle runs fine, and doesn't start up after being shut off until it has cooled down, it sounds more like a starter that loses contact when it is hot. You could check the starter terminals for 12 volts using a multimeter when the key is turned to Start the engine after warming up the engine and shutting it off. If 12 volts are present, replace the starter. If 12 volts are not present, check the Starter relay.

I am having a no start no crank problem with my 2000 ford expedition. Battery is fine, starter is fine changed the solenoid that did not work and changed the wire from the starter to the solenoid. Still...

I am experiencing the same issue with my 2001 expeditiion. Just curious... after the vehicle has been running hot for a while and you park and shut the motor, then it won't restart? Unless I wait for approx 1/2 hour when motor has cooled then it starts up. I have had mechanics check the fuel line and the fuel seems to "vapor lock". The fuel pump may need repaired/replaced. I am not experiencing and electrical issue. This is a fuel intake issue.

89 F350 w/460 stalls when heats up

If fuel delivery isn't the issue then check fire. Fords of this era are famous for ignition modules acting goofy with heat. Works nice in the cold not so nice in the heat. a Panda Bear. Change your module and you'll be off and running.

1998 ford explorer stalls when driving, have to wait 30 minutes

possible fuel pump. Try spraying starting fluid into breather while someone is cranking engine. if vehicle tries to run it is fuel problem. If not it could be an electrical componet overheating and cooling and restarting. Coils, relays, ecm.
