Swap the temp sensors. if the thread size is different. Get a bushing for it. These are pipe threads, not bolt.

The 96 uses a temp sensor for the computer to inform it of the temperature. This 2 wire sensor does not control the temp guage. The 86 has a single wire sensor because it controls the guage only

1986 dodge 600 temp gauge and fan not working

If you go to Autozone.com site and register your vehicle, you can get free wiring diagrams and fusebox layouts for your car. Another site is alldatadiy.com

Years ago, some Libraries would buy books which illustrated the wiring on many vehicles.

Finally, do a Web search using the header "1986 Dodge 600 wiring diagrams (or illustrated wiring)"

I hope my solution is helpful, please rate my info.

1992 olds cutlas 3.3litre a/c clutch comes on and off continuiously weather a/c is called for or not on the dash.engine cold or hot. rad fan also comes on when engine is cold and hot keeps cycling. when...

ok the ac will cycle even if its not on thats the way the factory has it set up.
the fan will also cycle the same way. but the temp of the motor has to do with
the thermostat thats whare i would be looking the thermostat may be bad
when you pick up a new one test it if it says 180 deg. that is when its wide
open check it with a temp guage a house hold type in a pot of boiling water
on your stove i have found 1 out fo 6 would be good go figure.
now the censors. one wire tells you temp guage 2 wires tells you its a
switch for the fan while the motor is running use the same house hold
guage a meat thermomiter will work just fine

i hope this helps you BOB !!!

1986 Porsche 944. Instruments not working

Sounds like a possible fuse problem. Have you checked your fuses yet. If not look in your owners manual to see which fuse(s) control your instrument panel, or anything else you are having trouble with. Keep in mind, if a short did occur for some reason, more than one fuse may be blown. When i accidental crossed two door lock wires, i blew 6 fuses, some of which were not even related to the wires i crossed. Hope this helps

The blower on my 1986 bmw l7 some times and some

check your switch first make sure it is having continuity with the switch removed second these motors did fail at the clips with corrosion from time to time. inspection guide.
1.Remove cowl ventilation grill
2 Remove hood seal and 12 screws holding intake cover
3.Mark and then disconnect vacuum servos
4Remove relay bracket and temp sensor
5.inspect wiring and connectors with key on lightly push on the wires to find the problem connector removal is quite difficult be very careful taking connector off and if connectors look good there is a short in the motor its self.

Fans on 1999 pontiac grand am will not come on. Have checked fuses and they are fine. No wires seem to be cut or lose. help please.

check your fan motors unplug the wires in the back of the motor take 2 wires from the battery one positive one negitive to the plug on the actual motor connect the power direct you cant di it wrong it will only go backwards so your taking the power from the battery directly to the fans see if they work.remember 2 wires 1 from the positive to the fan plug connect to 1 prong. other from the negitive to the other prong fans will kick on if there good.if there good plug back in as b 4,make sure your temp gauge is working, fuses, relays

Firing order for a 1986 gmc s15

FIRING ORDERS

To avoid confusion, ALWAYS replace spark plug wires one at a time.

The most important thing to remember about the removal and installation of a distributor, cap or spark plug cable is that all wires MUST be labelled before they are disconnected. Keep in mind that these figures depict a firing order where the distributor cap terminals are relative to EACH OTHER only and they do not necessarily depict the tower positions in relation to the rest of the engine. This is true because any distributor which has been removed and reinstalled may have been installed with the No. 1 spark plug tower at any position (360 degrees) in relation to the rest of the motor, as long as the rotor aligned to the No. 1 tower when the No. 1 cylinder was at TDC of the compression stroke (valves closed, ready for the plug to fire). As long as the remaining wires were connected in the correct firing order sequence (depending on direction of distributor rotation) the engine will run. DO NOT EVER remove more than one wire from the distributor cap at a time unless you tag ALL wires and towers to assure proper installation.
