Question about 2005 Cadillac Deville

1 Answer

Is there a way where people can list the year, make and model of their vehicle when asking a question? Some questions are very vague such as; My car won't start. Just a thought

Please give as much information as you can when you are asking for help. I makes it easier to answer correctly. Always give vehicle year, make and model.

Need to locate the fuses for the car charger plugs I DONT owners manual

You need to post information such as brand, model, year in inquiries. Or you can google that same information plus "owners Manual" or "service manual." Among the results, look for "manualsonline."

How to get GOOD Answers

Please, please please, when you ask a question, give as much detail as you can.

To get good answers, you HAVE to ask GOOD questions!

I know you are sitting in front of your exercise bike, and you want a manual for it, but it is no good putting a question in the category of exercise bikes and just write

'I need a manual'

This happens time and time again. It doesn't even matter if the partial image in the category is
JUST LIKE YOURS! We need, make and model to help you.

If you are asking questions about vehicles, or anything that may change on a yearly basis, please also include the year.

Today, a young fella posted 'I need an assembly diagram'. I posted an assembly diagram for an exercise bike. He responded "you gave me details on an exercise bike, I want a diagram for a Co2 BB Air-rifle ". You see the problem :>)

If you do post something really vague, don't be surprised if I have some fun with you!

Tip

Critical Information Needed

For anyone and everyone that is about to, or has posted a repair question, here's my tip.

Include AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE.
Vehicle make
Vehicle year
Vehicle model
If engine related question then include the engine size, or at the very least, how many cylinders
If a transmission related question, then manual or automatic

The whole "my car don't start" or possibly "heater don't work" or transmission don't shift" WITHOUT THE PERTINENT INFORMATION WILL GET YOU NO, OR WRONG INFORMATION.

Every time I see a vague question asked it reminds me of one of the auto parts store I worked at.

It was a simple "Ma and Pa" operation and i was the only employee.

One day a guy walked in and said to the owner, "I need some spark plugs". The owner stood there for a few seconds, turned around and walked back to the shelf, grabbed a box of spark plugs and then he returned to the counter, sitting the box of spark plugs in front of the customer.

The guy asked "Are those the spark plugs I need?" The owner answered, "I don't know if you don't tell me what vehicle you need them for."

FINALLY the guy understood what the problem was. LACK OF INFORMATION.
He then told what he needed the plugs for and got the correct ones. Along with the proper recommended electrode gap.

Sure you can post a vague question, but you may not get a response. If you do, then don't be surprised if it's requesting more information. THEN you get to respond back with the needed info. THEN you MAY get an answer for the question.

When all along, with the proper information to begin with, the question could have been answered WITHOUT the back and forth exchange.

End of Tip (rant)

Car won't stay on after you crank it up it just shuts off.

It should go without saying that it is impossible to answer your question without knowing the YEAR, MAKE, and MODEL of your vehicle. Additionally, it is impossible to answer such a vague question without knowing what diagnostic steps you have taken. Please do a little more work before asking your question again, and be more specific.

Car starts. Why won't it continue running?

Wow. Incredibly vague question.
MANY, MANY reasons this may be happening:
  1. Contaminated fuel;
  2. Clogged fuel filter;
  3. Defective fuel pressure regulator;
  4. Clogged fuel intake in tank;
  5. Clogged fuel line;
  6. Faulty ignition system;
  7. Defective ECU;
  8. Failed sensor;
  9. Clogged exhaust;
There is no magic bullet solution to your vague question. I recommend taking your vehicle to a competent mechanic for proper diagnosis.

Most manufacturers that require valve lash adjustment will usually put the specifications on the sticker attached to the underside of the hood with the emission information

Occasional stall/surge and mild to rough idle.

It is impossible to answer your oddly vague question without knowing the YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND ENGINE of your vehicle, and further details on the nature of the issue, including under what conditions it occurs.

Autozone has a massive list of vacuum diagrams for lots of vehicles.
Go to autozone.com-->repair info-->repair guides
Find your Year/Make/Model

hope this helps...also you could call them and ask if they have a Chiltons Manual (Haynes is often too vague and omits too much good info) for just around 15 - 20 bucks (on sale 2 for 20 deals sometimes)
