Fans not turning on and replaced the coolant temp sensor? Coolant in reserve but not in radiator?

why do you have ? on facts? odd that.
my guess replaced ECT ! not ?
my guess, doing so , now engine is full of air, and not fails.
as all do.
front RAD cooling FANS, right? (not heater blower )
it don't work like you think, ? huh?
what does" not in Rad "mean? with ? marks?

means you trust the silly side tank and not look in rad? fail you will.
when doing cooling service, learn read a book first.
read how to fill and burp your engine, Just like feeding a baby it is.
is engine overheating?
did it , has it, or ? , what started this saga, tell a full story?
and WIN !
Facts: on this system.
the fans are controlled by the computer brain, under a complex set rules now. it's not some mindless switch like days of old.
sorry!
ill now answer for USA 03, how ours work,
ONLY!
ours has one fan., (not fans)
ours has a 3 speed fan (at rad back side.)
and has rules to run all 3 speeds, via 3 relays
the PCM/ECU decides this, based on if A/C is on or off.
and a complex set of rules (uses the ECT for this magic)
Fact 2: ECT will not work with air pockets !!!!
The PCM even turns on and turn off are not same temp!!!
Rules:
1: Rad must be filled of AF/ 50% antifreeze cold, to the top neck of RAD filler.
2: rad and engine burped of all air pockets, ask it's same on all cars.
3: the ECT must work, right, if air pockets there, it CANT work.
4: park car, idle until the minimum engine time is reached parked.
about 180F, but all cars overheat if parked, idling and fan stays dead.
fan is off , and at some point, the fan goes to low speed.

this varies by engine option, but is around 225F. (stage1)
THE FSM covers these checks, and rules, and temps. for all 3 stages of fan speed.
scan the pcm yet>?
got P0128 DTC? or others, for temperatures wrong,
not scanning is a big mistake on all modern cars.
big time!
yes, rad must be full parked cold, yes, yes, yes...
side expansion tanks do fail. for many reasons. ask.

a 2.0L engine. only, here. 7.4quarts cooling cap.
here is ours. usa fan. a 4 wire fan it is....
the ecu controls it using SOFTWARE, (firm-ware in truth)
26098393-rlcj0qgtvzvpudyok3p1nj5o-4-0.jpg do not drive car until all air is burped out of engine and rad.
DO NOT!
in fact run it idling to hot. 180f. ( too hot to touch long)
, kill engine with key.
let cool, to luke warm, or cold.
check rad level. (sure its low)
top it off, cap it,
repeat 3 times, before driving or if it holds levels.

Why am i overheating

anon post
no engines option state (no size and cyl. counts)
is the dash toy gauge working right or fibbing.?
i never trust one, i use the nand IR pyro gun for 15 bucks.
the gun can in fact tell you if any RAD tubes are clogged
thermostat not in backwards? and bleed hole up hill?

a bad rad tube will read hot on the feed end and about 50 degrees
less on the other end, if not the tube is clogged. easy huh,
running 50% coolant
no coolant in the engine oil?
no oil in the top of rad neck, or carbon chucks.
signs:?
not getting so hot it pings?
steam out tail pipe end on hot motor and stinks sweet (glycol sweet)?
rad cap works and holds 14psi.? the big rad hoses.when squeezed
will reflect that 14 pound per square inch. super easy test.
no leaks.
no leaks on passengers toes, or to ground or to engine oil pan(milky)
if all that pans out the pump is bad. or belt loose.

one thing not stated.
does it overheat parked and running fast. or both.??????
if only parked the fans are failing.
all engines over heat parked, and in FACT that is the FSM '
test, doing exactly that. you get it warm, then parked
it starts to get hot. then the fans come on,
if not , fix fan(s)
summer answer, not in winter in Alaska.... different answers there.

are the air paths from the grill to the back side of RAD
clean not all parked in dirt bugs and what not?
if the fan cant suck, the RAD will overheat. for sures.

Saab 9000 running hot what temperature should it be

These fans should not be running continually. Make sure thermostat is not stuck. Test temp sensors and fan relay if fans on and engine is not hot. If hot. Check or replace thermostat. should not be more than 160

Rad fan on always ofter engine shut off. no hot engine message temperture guage at normal range fan stays on @2-3min after engine turned of regardless of running 1 min or 1 hr.

The ECM gets it messages for heat from the engine coolant temperature sensor. The sensor is probably bad. Since the fans come on right away the ECM is in a safe mode for the engine. Meaning it turns the fans on because it can't read the coolant sensor. As far as the fans staying on for a couple of minutes this is normal when the engine is hot. The ECM does this.

1996 Legacy Overheating It has coolant and both fans are working. Overheats after about 10 min of driving. Checked oil was a little low put 1 liter in. Radiator has pressure, opened when hot and coolant...

Costs nothing to try this, just in case coolant level was low when or after bottle changed, and you got an airlock. Start car when cold, rad cap off and heater on. Now let in run until it comes up to normal operating temperatures and rad fan(s) kick on and off, 2 or 3 times, and add coolant to proper level in rad if it goes down during process. Then after that, put rad cap back on, fill coolant return bottle to proper level and try it. Quite often when re-filling an engine cooling system, people forget to turn on heater to get coolant circulating through the heater core.

95 monte carlo 3.1 cooling fan comes on at 3/4 temp, when the coolant temp sensor is disconnected both fans run strongly until car is shut off, but when its connected only 1 fan will come on at 3/4 temp

to check both fans work at high temps put a sheet of card over the rad to block off airflow and run engine till hot, keeping an eye on when they both start (one is set at a lower temp than the other),if the second fan dont start when the engine is really hot THEN you have a problem.....

Over heating on gauge, both fans on rad.

I would say check your coolant level, and change your thermostat. And see if it is high fans or low fans when they come on. There is a fan control relay down on the drivers side frame right under the air box that goes bad too if your fans arent working quite right to check if all else.

198 mercury sable cooling fans motor

Cooling fans ( on radiator ) only come on when the engine reaches a certain (hot) temprature. There is a temp sensor threaded into the radiator end reservoir that switches a relay off and on that runs the fans. Either the temp sensor or the relay is probably bad. Normally , those fans will not be on if the car is moving , the air flow from just driving is sufficient to cool the rad. If you stopped and idled for a while , eventually the rad would heat up enough for the fans to come on.

I have hot wired the rad fans to run

If you have hot wired the fans already why not bypass the speed regulator circuit you could add a 3 way inline switch to manually control your fans. Since you have replaced the thermostat, try checking the Rad to see it is circulating properly when engine is cold remove the rad cap start the car and look into the you should be able to tell if it is circulating or not. Have a rad shop test your coolant to make sure you have the needed blend to cool your engine this is normaly done free of charge. Good Luck to you!!

1992 5.0 camaro no cooling fan except with ac

Yes there is a relay, but first answer this question, do you know the fans don't come on until the engine temp is above 230+ degrees F.? That is almost in the hot zone. run a scanner on the engine and watch the ECT sensor temp reading to verify proper cooling fan operation, a quick test to see if the system works is to unplug the ECT sensor, the fans will go into failure mode and turn on to avoid damage to the engine.
