Surely at 55K the oild must have been changed several times since new so it will be best to find out what was used last time, because it is unwise to mix fully synthetic oil with mineral oil.

How many miles should a driver go between oil changes?

Since the oil is more refined and filters are better these days (I would recommend Fram 3X or 6X filters), I go 5000 miles between changes. If your 2007 is up in the 80K-90K mileage range, you might want to look at the high-mileage oil as a substitute. You might also want to look at synthetic oil, which can stay in your engine even longer. As far as Jiffy lube or the dealership, not having used either, my best guess would be the Jiffy lube is faster and cheaper, but the dealership probably has better trained people doing the work and will check your car to make sure nothing else is wrong, while you are there.

Why is my 2007 300c burning oil

You do not say how much oil the car is burning. One quart every 1000 miles is ok. Cars with 75000 miles or higher are likely to burn more oil than cars with less mileage. Try using high mileage motor oil. If excessive smoke is coming out of your exhaust pipe, you are either leaking oil through the piston oil rings or valve seals. Then you will need an expensive repair.

What motor oil is best to use in my 1991 Jaguar xj6 with 108,000 miles on it and how often should it be changed

Pennzoil High Mileage 10w30 as well as a Fram High Mileage filter. 10w30 is an all around oil that's suitable for ALL temperature ranges, except for below zero degrees Fahrenheit...possibly -10 degrees. Any other oil has a range that's not acceptable in ranges above 60 degrees Fharenheit or below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I would also recommend putting a BG® product in your oil when changing it called MOA. This will "clean" the mechanical parts of detergents left from all the other oils used thus far that have stuck to various components. Insofar as changing the oil? Every 5000 miles, with the newer oils available is enough. The old 3000 mile rule is over-kill now a days..

Both, it has an On Board Diagnostic computer, or OBD-II. For giving problem codes. But as far as in tune up wise, only has one for the oil.
