If you can get the car body high enough, the easiest way is drop the entire engine and transmission package. I can drop the whole thing in 1 1/2 hours. Then separate the two in about 1/2 hour. But I have a lift. I don't have to pull it out from under the car. Kind of like what Naiton said, some are easier, but there are some that will only come out the bottom. Year make and model helps.

Well the funny part is cars differ, some cars like VW its easier to drop it and you don't need to bother about the subframe. So my point depends with you need to evaluate, thank you

Remove hood, radiator, fan assembly, unbolt exhaust, wiring harness, transmission and remove engine from the top. The more accessories you take off ( alternator/ps pump/manifolds etc ) the easier it will be for removal as there will be more clearance

How do you change the oil pump in a 1995 chevy lumina 3100

You must remove the oil pan. I do not think you can do this with the engine in the car. If you can remvove the pan from the bottom without engine removal, it would be easy. Most every engine has to be removed to fully remove the oilpan. So my solution is- remove engine, remove oilpan, remove pump, replace pump, pan, and engine.

Hello. My engine seized on my RAV 4. I have located another engine. What is the best way to swap the engine? Will it come out through the top or is it easiest to drop the whole subframe through the bottom?...

Hi Bft,Your easiest and most efficient way is through the top. Remember to dismantle the suspension and half shafts first. Once you've removed the CV joints don't move the vehicle as the front wheel bearings are held in place by the CV's. Regards Johngee10

Which is the easiest way to take the engine out from the top or the bottom on a 1997 calavier?

the easiest way to remove the engine in your cavalier is out the top, if you remove the damper weel from the crank then the engine will lift right out with no problem, when installing it also leave the damper weel off untill you have it bolted in place, then install the damper weel and torque to specks

I need to install an engine block heater in my 2001 Subaru Outyback/Forester 4 cyl. engine. Where does it go? Thanks. Ed!

There are several types of heaters. The easiest one is the type that that takes place of your oil dipstick. Just remove dipstick put dipstick heater in and plug er in ! Easy ! The others involve removing freeze plugs or cutting coolant hoses YUK :(

What is the easiest way to remove a headgasket from a 1993 toyota previa

Hello. Welcome to FixYa.

The easiest way to remove the cylinder head is to lower the engine/transmission combination out thru the bottom of the vehicle; ie support the engine/trans, and raise the vehicle off of the powertrain assembly.

Working on the cylinder head whilst the engine is still in the vehicle is a VERY difficult endeavour.

Even though it looks like more work, by lowering the engine out; it proves much easier to work on and access all of the necessary bolts.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.
