There 3 things you must check, fuel, spark and compression that makes a car to fire.So you need to do substitution if you can't hook up an OBD2,no no fuel means the fuel pump packed or there is no power. Then you must check for the pump fuses and relays,no spark means that the crank sensor is bad, check for injector signal as well if not there replace the camshaft sensor,if there is no spark and fuel pump power isn't there then you have a faulty immobiliser. All the above mentioned are ok the do compression check. But to minimise the labour of scratching your head if you are not so good at cars, then find a fault finder

Crank but not starting cruse controll and traction controll lights are on

Did you check to see if there is spark at the spark plugs ? Is there fuel pressure ? Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key to the run position ? Not cranking the engine just to run. Those lights have nothing to do with it not starting. Do you have a scan tool ? if so will it communicate with the engine control module . You can go to YouTube an check out a few trouble shooting videos . Crank - no start diagnostics . go to free wiring diagrams ,check out fuel system an ignition system diagrams .

My check engine light does not illuminate during a misfire why?

If the car was newer with an OBDII emission system it would trigger the MIL or malfunction indicator light. Being an older computer control system the check engine may not light unless the PCM (powertrain control module) sensed a rich or lean mixture via the oxygen sensor. Does the check engine light turn on with the ignition key on before you actually start the engine?

Had new tries put on yesterday and now traction control light and engine check light have come on

Any time the check engine light comes on the traction control will be disabled and the light will also come on. Start with scanning the engine computer for trouble codes to see why the check engine light is on.

Don't use any higher octane fuel than what the manufacturer recommends, that will cause problems with cold starts and other poss issues due to the diff of the fuel burn rate. As far as the check engine light goes there are 100 different things that turn the light on, all are related to faults that have occurred in the electronic control of the engine, emission control system and in some cases the transmission, have the powertrain control module tested for trouble codes, whenever the light comes on one is stored.

Car won't start says check traction control

the car should still start even with somthing wrong with the traction control. sounds like you have a dead battery. i would check it first. and if battery is dead charge it and start the car then take it to your local advance auto and have the altinator checked thay do it for free. if a charged battery dont start the car then you may have a bad starter. again the traction control light will not keep the car fromk starting
