Could just be a glitch in the electronics. I would continue driving to see if the problem re=occurs and then have it checked for codes and isolate the problem

Possible vehicle speed sensor issue. It supplies info to the speedo and tranny control module to related speed. The tranny will go into limp mode and stay in 2nd or 3rd gear. You should have the tranny module checked for codes in order to isolate the problem

Check the wiring to that sensor and make sure the plug is secure.

loss of connection to that sensor will temp set off a check engine light and the trouble code will be stored as well...

if you can easily get to it, unbolt it and spin the gear by hand to see if it rotates freely

My ABS and Brake light goes on alot. Also sometimes my gages will go up and down for no reason. That is what they call the GM shuffel. It happens to alot of GM vehicles.
I never had a problem with loosing power or the tranny stuck in second gear. Sounds electrical, if no one can help here, get that thing to a garage before your hurt.

1998 Toyota Camry V6 Auto transmission loses power

Check the EFI main relay base in the relay block forward on the left fender well. On Camrys sometimes the base for this relay becomes faulty and gives intermittent connection. See here p279

Honda accord speedometer drop to zero

You may have a problem with your IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) which often can be exchanged for a serviced and warrantied replacement unit.

First thing I would try...disconnect the battery for 10 minutes which will allow the on board computers to re-start.

If this doesn't help... I would retrieve any stored codes the on-board computer has logged which may provide a starting point to diagnose your trouble.

Transmission wont go into second gear, speedometer not working.

Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop ! We don't give guesses ! diagnosing problems with scan data , electrical testing of affected systems ,checking for DTC'S etc... is the way to find problems . What wires did you wiggle ? What do they go to ? Looking at service information ,wiring diagrams ,testing for open circuits , shorted circuits etc.. are also diagnostic procedures .

When car warms up the speedometer goes up and down and transmission shifts funny and the engine cuts off

If the speedometer suddenly drops back and then returns to being close to your actual speed and the transmission shift or acts up at the same time this is happening then you may have a failing Vehicle Speed Sensor, usually refered to as a VSS. This sensor tells the engine computer, instrument cluster, and transmission controller how fast you are going so the controller can select the proper gear for the transmission to be in. If the speed signal is lost, wrong, or erratic then the transmission may make a quick downshift to to try and match this new, but incorrect, speed and then may make an equally quick upshift to rematch the correct speed once the signal is correct again. This should be an easy one for anyone with a good scan tool to check out as the actual speed reading signal can be observed during a test drive and it's usually pretty easy to spot the glitches. Good luck, hope this helps!

The speedometer stops working and it goes out of overdrive. It doesn't matter what speed I am going it happens intermitantly. Sometimes it will happen and go back to normal right away and sometimes it will...

You need to have the transmission serviced. Make sure you tell them this problem. It is a solenoid problem in the transmission that will need replaced.

Check the transmission fluid first. it sounds like one of the clutch plates is sticking.

If you shift into second after you've stopped, can you get the car moving?
