Question about Cars & Trucks

My 1999 Chevy Suburban K1500 cranks; but will not start.

Engine cranks well; but will not start. Shortly before this happened the check engine light came on. Code P0141 for O2 sensor heater. Fuel pump sounds like it activates when I turn the key.

You have to determine whether there is no fuel supply or no spark supply. Disconnect one plug wire and ground it to the engine and crank the vehicle. There should be a visible spark and snapping heard. If spark ok check fuel pressure on the fuel rail with a guage. Should be 55-60lbs.

1999 Suburban passlock security

Not sure I am following you.
The security system is supposed to keep the engine from cranking if the correct key is not used.
The check gauge and charging light would be on until the engine starts.
You have checked fuel pressure with a gauge and you know the line is not pressurized when you crank the engine ?

Reduced engine power came on i'n my 00 chevy

Ok I would start by checking your shifter to make sure it adjusted right and you can do this by looking at your shift indicator if that is ok then might have a bad manual shift valve thats in the transmission, if that valve goes bad it would tell the pcm that your transmission is being shifted into another gear while your driving causing the Power control module (PCM) to out you vehicle into reduced engine mode

I have a 1997 chevy k1500 and i was wondering if it would run if i gutted the catalytic converter or took it completley off?

yes, it should run, but you'll have an engine light on because your downstream O2 sensor will think there's a miss fire.

When I start or drive my 1999 chevy suburban k1500 it make a loud knocking noise in the egine- so loud that can not drive it no where- I was told by a friend that my egine are loose and to be tighten. how...

if the engine is loose, i would check the motor mounts to see if 1 of them is not broken, if it is , it will have to be replaced, if it is loose, then it can be tightened up. with the appropiate size wrenches. if the knocking sound is coming from the inside of the engine, i would have it checked out soon to see what is causing the knocking. [ interior knocking in a engine is serious. ]

THE crank sensor is located at bottom of timing cover on front of engine if you look under engine below crank pulley around oil pan timing cover you will see it. the cam sensor is in the distributor.

When trying to cranking engine the fan rotates forward then rotates backwards would this be caused by the timing chain? 1999 chevy suburban

You don't say how many miles the engine has. The engine is misfiring and running backwards momentarily. In days of old this was from the timing being too far advanced. With the new computer controls this is more difficult to achieve. Are the plug wires crossed up? I have a1999 Silverado 6.0L and it has a coil for each plug and little short plug wires. The wires to the coils just out of the loom near the front of the engine may be of similar length and could get crossed up. Have you been messing with things? Or is this something that just started happening? If the timing chain is so loose it jumped teeth then maybe. As it gets looser the timing would ****** some. Does this happen when the engine is hot? Bad plugs with hot deposits on them can act like a glow plug and cause a premature misfire when cranking. Very hot engine shut off then restarted right away.
