In 89 it took dextron 2 for auotomatic trans and 85-90 w gear oil for manual trans.......if you want your older manual transmissions to shift better go to a synthetic and alot of times the syncros will work better.

SOURCE: what kind of oil do I put into the transfer case?

no, DO NOT use gear oil. The transfer case uses the same type of automatic transmission fluid that the transmission uses. Is the display saying "service 4x4 switch"? If so it is common and the 4WD indicator light switch is bad and needs replaced. It's only purpose is to tell the driver info center what 4 wheel drive mode the transfer case is in. This switch will not affect the function of the 4 wheel drive. The correct fluid for the transfer case is +4 automatic transmission fluid.

SOURCE: what kind of gear oil is required for my 1992 jeep

Transmission generally takes a bit less than two quarts, Use 75/90 gear lube in that (in very cold climates you can add a small amount of automatic trans fluid to keep it flowing on cold starts) Transfer case takes a bit over one quart and takes dextron mercon 3. When filling either, fluid is full when on a level surface it begins to come out of the fill hole while filling. When changing either, always make sure you can open the fill plug before draining so you know you can replace what you removed.

Holden Rodeo 4x4 petrol 2001 V6 what is the lubricant quantities for the diffs, gear box & transfer case. Also what weights of oil

manual transmission --- 80w-90 for the gearbox and transfer case
diff is 80-90 oep if a straight diff and different if a limited slip diff gear box is around the 2.5 ltrs as is the diff each
LiSiD oil can be used in LiSiD diffs and straight diffs but straight oil cannot be used in lisid diffs
the transfer case uses the same as the box but the quantity you will have to check in the lubrication section of the user manual
many user manuals recommend a lighter straight oil for transfer cases and boxes ( 30 straight oil) but I find that the light oil promotes bearing wear and gear problems as the oil squeezes out under load

How to fit in new synchronizers on a Toyota Land cruiser hzj79 gearbox

this is a big job best let to a specialist box shop
the box has to come out and be split from the transfer case to start with
synchro trouble can be attributed to energizing spring failure , worn cones, bearing failure, synchrodogs worn and wrong grade of oil in the gear box or friction improvers that are not suitable for the box conditions

What kind of oil goes in the transfer case

It depends on your transfer case

spicer 18 and 20 takes 80W-90 gear oil
dana 300 takes 85W-90 gear oil.

I personally don't think it would matter either way if you put 85 or 80. They both lube well. Thats my opinion.

WHEN I AM IN DRIVE MY TRANIE SCREAMS AND MAKES A REALLY LOUD GRINDING SOUND! WHAT COULD IT BE?

Automatic ? Worn Out Main Bearing in the Transmission, if it is 4x4, check Transfer Case too, best if to put your truck on block, no wheel touching the floor, put it in gear and check underneath where the noise is coming from ! Could need to Replace the Transmission or Replace the bearing inside, check if it has full oil too.. !

I need to change the oil in the transfer case but i dont know what kind to use or how much.

your transfer case does not use regular motor oil..it will use gear oil which can be purchased at any local parts store or even wal-mart (most part stores can tell you how much you need to add to the unit but a good rule of thumb is add the gear oil until it starts to drip out the fill/check hole..
