So far they all have the right idea. Couple of question, do you have a rear heater. Also have you checked if your water pump is circulating at all. Do you have any heat at all from front and rear if applicable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEOSeZuCG8U

Put your hands on the carpet under the driver's foot well. If the carpet is wet, you have a failed heating core (matrix), this can cause overheating as well. A faulty water pump can also do it as well as the cooling fan relay. A dye test kit from NAPA will tell you if you've blown the head gasket.

What might the issue be with my 2002 dodge caravan overheating?

Hi, No you did not break anything. It just happened by coinsident.
You need to replace the thermostat and put new fluid in. Not just water. If it happens again do a radiator flush and check if fan is working properly. Good luck.

Can a bad heater core cause your vehicle to overheat? I have a 1994 GMC Suburban

I WOULD SAY NO BECAUSE WATER ONLY CIRCULATES WHEN YOU TURN ON THE HEATER, BUT IF YOUR VEHICHLE CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT IT COULD BE 5 THINGS. CLOGGED RADIATOR,RADIATER HOSES.THERMOSTAT,RADIATER FAN SENSOR OR THE WATER PUMP

My 06 caravan is overheating. I think something is causing my rad fan fuse to blow. Fluids and thermostat are good. What can it be?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If you have overheating problem, it can lead to multiple issues. You may be running on low coolant that's why the vehicle overheats. If that's the case, please add coolant and make sure that it sits on the right level, too much coolant can cause overheating too for coolant will overflow.

The vehicle may have a faulty or worn out radiator blower motor that's why it overheats. If that's the case then you will need a blower motor replacement to resolve the issue.

If the radiator is clogged with dirt and rusts this issue occurs too. The coolant doesn't flow normally on the cooling system if it's clogged. If that's the case, I strongly suggest that you have the radiator flushed to drain out dirt and rusts. If you think that the radiator served you enough then it's better to have it replaced.

Please do check the radiator hoses, If you have worn out hoses it can cause coolant leakage which can result to overheating. A tiny hole is good enough for the vehicle to overheat.

A faulty thermostat sensor can cause the issue too. If you have worn out thermostat, the fan may not trigger that's why the fan won't work when under stressed conditions. A blown radiator blower fuse can cause this issue too so I suggest that you check the radiator blower fuse and replace it when necessary.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

You do not mention if you have chanced the thermostat or not. The thermostat is what controls the engine temperature. I have seen people replace the thermostat two or three times before they got a good one that worked correctly. With any luck the first one you put in will fix the problem.

98 dodge caravan overheating...heater works..checked fans they came on later but when I drove it after it cooled down and it overheated...check engine lite came on.

About the only things are the thermostat and the water pump. There could be something with the radiator but that is the rarest because the water shoots straight through. If it overheats fairly rapid,it's most likely the thermostat.Sometimes a water pump will let you go 20-30 miles before overheat. The thermostat is cheaper and easier if you're going to try it systematically.Overheat will probably cause the check engine light too.Good luck!
