Manual windows on 1998 Pontiac grand am keep coming off track

I've noticed the grease in the manual and electric regulators over time will dry out causing excessive wear in the "scissor" joint in these cars throwing window out of track. (I think gradual excessive force required accelerates wear) With window partially up check for excessive lateral play in the very center pivot point. Also check for loose mounting rivets and replace. If not too worn and loose rivets were found you may be able to clean and liberally grease assembly...otherwise replace the regulator.

Where can i find manual windows that are compatible to a 1990 toyota 4runner? And what does swapping out automatics for manual entail?

i would just swap the doors, lots easier than taking the door apart, removing your window motor, regulator etc, and then having to install the window crank, replace door panels etc. Me? id just swap the whole door, 6 bolts out, 6 bolts in and your done! ( per door)

Switch door from manual to power

The door shell should be the same with or without power windows.
You would need to switch out the window regulator and other parts.

My rear window won't operate. Can I manually lower the window? The dash switch nor the outside tailgate switch will operate the window. No blown fuse. What could be the problem?

Have had a few of these broncos, the rear window motor burns out on those pretty frequently. Check to see if you have power to the motor before replacing it but if your fuse is good and its not working then pretty sure it is the motor. There isn't a way to manually crank the window up but you can open the tailgate up to get to the internal components and disconnect the regulator from the glass then you can manually put the glass up and use a wedge of wood to hold the glass up. The proper fix is to replace the window motor.

Front passenger window stuck. is there a manual override

Hi:
There is no manual override on the power windows. Most likely your window motor has failed, and needs replaced. You can remove the door panel, and get at where the motor and connections are, but if you disconnect the motor from the window, the window will end up all the way down.

The driver's side window does not roll up.

if electric its the switch easy fix replace switch
if you want your windows to go up at night and you dont have money for switch pull out the switches in panel let hang get a guaged wire with fuse find a good ground and then touch the switch bars power this will send power to gear box which will role up your windows till you get replacement switch

if manual then you gotta go into panel and grease the gears manually or replace the manual gears cause they stripped out
