Easiest way to check is remove driveline from rear end and see if you can spin yoke with wheels off the ground

SOURCE: rear door wont unlock

this is not the dead lock? if i am right in thinkin that this is a centrally locked car then the sensor in the door isd set too low mybe slipped as only has to be out a little to cause this, more of an antitheft system than a dead lock.

SOURCE: Transmission problem 98 dodge dakota

just try changing your transmission fluid and filter first, and its not a 5.1 its a 5.2 unless you have the 5.9 r/t then it would be a 5.9. i would change fluid and filter first and go from there... and as far as the extra effort it takes to shift from park, try using the parking brake when you park, set the brake before you put it in park and take your foot off the brake pedal, that stops the truck from resting on the transmission park gear and should solve that particular problem.

SOURCE: 99 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9l tranny problems

Take a look at the down shift cable and make sure its not broken especially were it connects to the throttle linkage. And maybe try cleaning the electrical plug that plugs into the trans. Its about a 7 to 9 wire plug. They tend to collect water and short the wiring out.

I have a 2004 dodge neon sx2.0 and last yeah I blew a tranny line and when I took it to a garage they said that my coolant mixed with my ATF fluid so they did all the work and it worked fine for a couple...

Try having a radiator shop look at the transmission cooler inside the radiator to see if it can be repaired. If not, then a new radiator is needed.

Transmission at 40 mph shifting to higher gear then back to previous until you accelerate hard then goes into higher gear till you slow down.

Check all the battery cable connections, both positive and negative on all the wires. This sounds crazy I know. I had the same problem with my 99. It is the torque converter not locking up. I tried everything, and someone told me to check the cables. I replaced the positive and negative cable ends at the batteries and tightened all the ground wires and I haven't had any more problems. It now shifts like it is supposed to.

I have a 99 dodge dakota w the codes po 753 and po 720

Just ask for the 3,4 shift solenoid, in which case the transmission pan has to be taken off, the filter, and possibly the valve body to get at the solenoid, I don't have my manual right now, so I can't tell you which solenoid it is.
The speed sensor is usually screwed into the side of the tranny near the back end of it, don't confuse it with the back up light switch, that's screwed in somewhere in the center of the tranny. Hope this helped a little. Good Luck.

99 dodge ram 4x4 w 360 engine trans has only 1st gear and reverse

Are you saying you put in a new but used tranny and it still dosent go out of first gear? Or are you saying you replaced a tranny line? If its the tranny you replace and first is the only gear you may not have adjusted the shifting linkage correctly. Put the truck in park and loosen the linkage on the tranny and slidr the rod on the tranny back and retigten and try that

Dodge rams plagued with tranny problems

I owned a 96 ram and all I can say is "DON"T BUY ONE"! I bought mine new and after 50 K, I replaced the rear end gears, at 58 k, the transmission was replaced, at 65 k, the fuel pump. I then bought an extended warrantee just in time for the first AC evaporator. Then after 85 K, another AC. After 120 K, a second tranny and a replacement vehicle! I am not normally ******* cars nor trucks and now own a Subaru that is perfect as well as a Corvette!
