Head bolt torque yield

90% of head bolts are stretched when installed. If you have the torque settings, you can confirm this by checking the specs. If it says example, 90lbs feet, plus a quarter turn, this confirms they are gonna stretch once torqued.
In any case, yes, change those head bolts at all costs. DO NOT RE-USE THEM. Make sure to torque and in the order as well. do not use a random pattern when torqueing.

I am looking 4 the torque pressures (ft.lbs) on the main crank bearings, and rod bearings on a 2007 Ford 5.4 3 valve engine??? Gerry..............thank-you

mains - vertical bolts first 30 ft.lb. PLUS 90 degrees
pattern frt

8 7
4 3
2 1
6 5
10 9
side bolts
22 ft. lb plus 90 degrees
pattern frt

7 8
3 4
1 2
5 6
9 10

connecting rod caps cracked type rod-rod and caps must be kept in matched sets, recommend new bolts/nuts, spec is 32 ft lb. plus 105 degrees - torque each item to the correct torque then go back and do the degrees. these are torque to yield bolts and the procedure is very important.

HEAD GASKET PROBABLY ALRIGHT.YOU HAVE TO LOOSEN HEAD BOLTS IN SEQUENCE BACK OFF A LITTLE AT EACH BOLTS.IF HEAD GASKET LOOK DAMAGE AT BOLT HOLES REPLACE HEAD GASKET.

1974 VW BUG HEAD TORQUE VALUES

If I remember correctly, head bolts are set at 26foot pounds, rockers at16foot pounds Always seemed low to me and was likely the reason that i've seen several with the heads falling off the block. If this is not an air cooled engine, disregard those numbers. If air cooled no sealant is necessary. Doing this from memory so I could be wrong. So, double check this info before using it.
