SOURCE: starter engages but wont turn engine over starters been rebuilt still doing same thing

sounds like, yes, Might try pulling the spark plugs and try it then,
if the intake gasket leaked or even fuel leaked into a cyl. when
the compression stroke comes up liquid won't compress so the
engine won't turn over.

How can you tell if your motor if siezed

  • well if it is ,and the car is a stander shift put it in 3rd gear and push it and while the car is moving let the clutch out and see if the motor turns., if it is automatic get a socket that fits the bolt on the front balancer with a long braker bar and see if you can turn the motor,. if you cant turn it then it most likely is siezed up , did you run it out of oil/

The fly wheel gets stuck, but the engine is not siezed. Can removing the spark plugs and spinning the fly wheel fix the problem?

I think i understand what you are saying Mary. The flywheel is a gear with teeth that is bolted to the crankshaft. The starter engages the teeth on the flywheel to start the vehicle. If the flywheel has a worn spot on it where the teeth are broken. The starter wont turn over the engine and start the car. Putting a wrench on the camshaft pulley and advancing the the flywheel turning the bolt in the normal rotating direction . Should move the gear to a good spot where the starter will engage it. but the next time the car is turned off and the gear falls in the same position the same problem will result. If this the actual problem the only way to fix the problem is to replace the worn flywheel.

Will not crank even though we have good battery power

How was the engine running before you shut it off? Does the starter try to engage? The only three things I can think of to check are the battery, starter, and if the engine has siezed up. Since you said the battery was good, I would check to make sure the starter is engaging. When you try to start the vehicle, the starter pushes a gear out to crank the engine over then retracts once the engine is running.

Focus c-max non starter

if the starter is not turning the engine, then it is either a weak or jammed starter, or a siezed engine.....tap the starter with a hammer ( lightly )...while someone tries to start the engine...if nothing happens, then its the engine.......try a spanner on the pully of the flywheel, and turn manualy by hand, if it wont turn, then the engine has siezed

Car will not start.

Next step is checking the battery, or replacing it.
After that, check that the 'security' key or whatever is used on that vehicle isn't messed up. Might be a fuse for that as well.
