It means you have one of two faults... either: 1) one or more of the wheel speed sensors is bad or 2) the ABS module is bad.
The sensors can be checked using a simple multimeter and the procedure in the Haynes manual for you car. The ABS module can be exchanged with a rebuilt one for about $120. New ones cost a small fortune. Search on-line for ABS module rebuilders, if the sensors are good. Your best bet is t go to Autozone and ask them to put a fault code reader on your car and write down the codes for us. I've been told it's a free service. Remember, if you change the ABS module, it will function just fine, but will have a instrument cluster fault until the new module is programmed into the ECM (ECU) by someone who has the factory computer link to do it for you. Most places charge from $25 to $50 to do this.

What is wrong when it shows parking brake fault

What make , model an year vehicle ? What do you mean ? The red brake light symbol is lit on the dash or you have a message on the DIC - driver information center saying parking brake fault ! If the light that comes on when you set the parking brake is what your talking about ., This light also comes on when the brake master cylinder is low on brake fluid ! Could need brakes or have a leak in the hydraulic system. The light could also be on at the same time as the ABS light ,which could be a whole other problem .

Is it possible to have an abs fault with out light on dash ? The brake warning light is on but the garage is saying it's an abs fault ? Wire snapped at the end of brake pad ?

Wire snapped would be to the wheel speed sensor. Usually, a faulty wheel speed sensor will trigger the ABS light, A broken wire? Not sure, but why not fix it?

Abs light has come on saab93

THE ABS WARNING LIGHT HAS COME UP

It means there is an issue with the anti lock braking system (ABS). If the warning light has come up it is likely that the ABS is no longer functioning. It is still safe to drive the car and it will brake as normal but the anti lock safety feature will not operate.

You need to have it checked out for faults. The most likely cause is a failed ABS wheel speed sensor which needs to be replaced. There could alternatively be a problem with the ABS pump which is causing the warning.

There is one item you can check yourself. There is a dedicated fuse for the ABS pump/motor. Check the owner's manual and locate the fuse for the ABS motor and check that the fuse has not blown. If it has blown replace it with a fuse of the correct amperage and road test the car. (So if it is a 40 amp fuse for example, make sure a 40 amp fuse is used to replace it.)

Cheers

Engine power reduced appeared on the DIC of 2008 chevy cobalt

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

Meaning of ABS light

On vehicles equipped with antilock brakes (ABS), a second warning light is provided to warn if a problem occurs within the ABS system. The ABS lamp comes on when the ignition is turned on for a bulb check, then goes out after the engine starts. If the ABS warning light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a fault has occurred in the ABS system.

What happens next depends on the nature of the fault. On most applications, the ABS system disables itself if the ABS warning light comes on and remains on.

Abs light stays on and a yellow triangle warnng light

On occasion an ABS light will come on when a brake light is out. So check your brake lights first. Your ABS light is on because there is a malfunction in the ABS system. Is your brake warning light and your ABS warning light both on? This would be an indicator of a major malfunction in the ABS system. Stop driving the vehicle and fix this immemorially. If only your ABS light warning light is on this will not effect normal braking but the ABS system is disabled while the ABS warning light is on. You still need to have it repaired but you still have brakes for the moment. Now the code for this fault will be stored inside the ABS memory module. So you pinpoint this with scanner. Hope this helps

I have a warning light on my dash saying there is a problem with the ABS system. Is this a safety problem?

not really. Measn that you most likely have a wheel speed sensor bad. Most often its in the front of the truck and its replaced with the wheel bearing. Although the system is disabled while the light is on the vehicle brakes are not affected
