Question about 2004 Cadillac Deville

How do i fix the driver side window switch

The driver side window switch is inoperative. Only the passenger side switch works. I've lost all functions of the driver side switch, (i.e. window, mirror, door lock, and alarm functions). The problem is intermittent at times. One day the switch will light up and all functions work, then minutes later it stops and never works again for months. I was told that there was a door module that controls all of those functions and the cost is well above $300. Any idea what the problem could be? I've checked the door harness inside the boot for potential broken wires, all were fine. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing to do first is have the vehicle hooked up to a professional grade scan tool an have it checked for DTC'S in the driver door module , an to see if the scan tool will talk with the module !
Then if no codes are present check for battery power an good grounds at the module ! You have to take the door panel off the door to get at the module . I have one of these modules out in my tool box , I got it at the auto salvage yard . $10.00
In order to control window operations, as well as other door functions, door modules must be powered up. Battery voltage is supplied by the rear fuse block, through separate circuits, to each door module. Each door module is separately grounded through a ground stake. Additionally, the door modules use these power and ground supplies to provide voltage and ground to their associated window switch, and to provide voltage and ground for door lock operations. The front door modules also use these power and ground supplies to power the window express up sensors, and for outside rearview mirror operation .

Did you check for battery voltage at the switch , with a volt meter before you replaced the main driver door switch ? Maybe you'll want to take this to pro ,instead of just replacing parts !

not sure what you need power goes to the master window switch then to the drivers window motor then the drivers switch that goes to the passenger side in a series so the drivers switch for the passenger side can be bad causing the passenger window to be inop of work up from one and down from the other

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 x 2, windows and door locks work on driver side, but not passenger side.

sounds like an open power or ground circuit on passenger side, since the door lock and the window, lost its functioning. Both switches would have to be bad at the same time, which is not probable, to be the fault. Unless there is a saftey lock out switch on the drivers panel, controling the passenger side door lock and window.

2005 Infiniti Coupe, driver window inoperative

is the motor turning when you press the switch if so when installed can you hear the motor running if so does your car have a cable style window regualtor if so your regualtor may be bad. but if that is not the case first try running the motor straight off of the battery one wire to ground the other to postive if the motor turns your good but if you hook it up to the oem wiring and it does not com on replace the switch. just because the drivers side switch for the passenger window works doesn't mean that you can't still have a bad switch.

Rear side windows

This may be just a case of inadvertently hitting the window lock out n th driver door window switch by mistake. Check that first. Here's some background on window operation

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Power is supplied to the power window relay and the master window/door lock/unlock switch, and the passenger power window switch when the SEC/timer module grounds the coil side of the power window relay. The SEC/timer module will ground this relay when the ignition is in the ON position and will remain energized for approximately 15 minutes or until the driver or passenger door is opened.
The driver power window regulator motor is a reversible motor that is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The passenger power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the passenger power window switch and can also be controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch.
The passenger power window regulator motor is a reversible motor, which is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The power rear quarter glass is also directly controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch. The power rear quarter glass power latches also utilize reversible motors. The power rear quarter glass power latches are operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to open the window, and then reversing polarity on those same leads to close the window.

2 dr honda accord power window problem

I wouls suspect you have either a inoperative window regulator (the frame work for the power glass) or a bad power window motor. More often then not the are sold as a single assembly and are not very hard to replace on this vehice.
