First scan with VAG-COM software capable and get the current storage codes; when the throttle body is replaced you most run a re-adaptation procedure... you can find more info at http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Throttle_Body_Alignment_%28TBA%29

I replace throttle body and wiring harness but the vehicle idles on its on sometimes and the vehicle will cut off when you come to a stop sign. The vehicle will act as its trying to shutdown sometimes...

Hi normally a foreign throttle body requires adaptation with diagnostic equipment , to configure with ECU. Try cleaning the throttle with some solvents, Make sure all electrical sockets are connected firmly.

Why is my vehicle continuously Fast idling?

Is there a Check Engine light on?
Either the Idle Speed Motor isn't working or it has reached its limit of adjustment (for one of several reasons)
The idle speed motor is controlled by the engine computer - looking at sensor inputs to adjust the idle. It is merely a controlled air bleed.
Electrical problem will be: motor - wiring to the motor - computer - or sensor input to computer
Non - Electrical problem: air entering the intake manifold not controlled by throttle body i.e. vacumm leak from damaged hose, gasket or crack in manifold - also you may have the throttle body out of calibration (open too much)
If you need to find a vacumm leak you can use a can of carb cleaner - with engine running - spray lightly around vacumm hoses and gaskets - when the engines rpms pickup it is leaking in that area.
WARNING: Carb Cleaner is Flammable - be careful not to start a fire - and have a fire extinguisher handy just in case.
Please let me know what you find out and if this helps at all.

Ford Code P1505 for 1994 Ford Thunderbird Lx

Adaptive Idle Air Control Strategy

The Adaptive Idle Air Control (IAC) strategy is designed to adjust the IAC calibration to correct for wear and aging of components. When engine conditions meet the adaptive strategy learning requirement, the strategy monitors the engine and determines the values required for ideal idle calibration. The adaptive strategy stores these values in a table for reference. This table is used by the PCM as a correction factor when controlling idle speed. The adaptive idle table is stored in Keep Alive Memory (KAM) and retains the learned values even after the engine is shut off. A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is output to indicate that the adaptive IAC strategy has reached its learning limits.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1505 indicates the IAC system has reached the adaptive clip.

Possible causes:

-- Air leaks.

-- Plugged air filter element.

-- Throttle body/linkage binding.

-- Contaminated or damaged IAC valve assembly.

-- Damaged throttle body.

P0508 code on 2001 Honda CR-V how do I troubleshoot

Hello,

P0508 = Idle Air Control System Circuit Low

Symptoms:
Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Engine hard to start - Rough or erratic idle speed.

Causes:
Dirty throttle body - Electric throttle control actuator misadjusted or damaged - Faulty Electric throttle control actuator - Intake air leak - Poor electrical connection to the Intake Air Control (IAC) valve.

Solution:
If there are no intake leaks, clean throttle body, adjust engine idle and erase engine code. If the code comes back you may have to replaced the Electric Throttle Control Actuator (Motor) to repair the problem.

I hope this helps!

Mike

I have a 96 jetta gl and the check engine light just came on and i had it hooked up to a computer and gives the code p1582 can u tell me what this means? thank you

P1582 Idling Speed Regulation Adaptation Limit Reached

This fault can be caused by several factors, one being a dirty throttle body. Another could be a small vacuum leak. The last could be a loose timing belt. First I would check and make sure the timing belt is not too loose. Very common cause. Then if you are sure that you don't have any broken vacuum lines, and the PCV tube is not torn, then remove and clean the throttle body. Note that clearing the fault will not always keep it from coming back. You will need to disconnect both battery cables, and touch them together, this will cause the ECM to reboot and reset all learned values for idle adaptation. You can then clear the faults. If you fail to clear the learned values the fault will come right back as soon as you start the vehicle. Make sure you have the radio code as you will need to reset the anti theft code on the radio.

Have a 2001 vw beetle and a check engine code is t1582

17990/P1582/005506 - Idle Adaptation Limit Reached Possible Solutions
  • Check Fuel Pressure
  • Check Intake System for Leaks (False Air)
  • Check Fuel Injector(s)
  • Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)
  • Check Exhaust System for Leaks
  • Check Secondary Air Injection (AIR) for Leaks
  • Check Vacuum Lines for Leaks
  • Check Throttle Body
Special Notes
  • It may be necessary to remove and clean the Throttle Body and perform a Throttle Body Alignment (TBA)
  • When this fault is stored in the early VW models with the 2.8L VR6 (AAA) and the 2.0L (ABA), it may be necessary to drive the vehicle for a few days for the idle to return to normal after removing and cleaning the Throttle Body.

P2176=Throttle Actuator Control System - Idle Position Not Learned
Did you use all you old sensors,or is some of them from the new engine,I would swap out the IAC sensor or check for wires not hooked up.
If it can't relearn to idle the Idle air control might be different then your old one,but its not registering with the computer

check your Idle air valve thats what keeps your car with the right air mixture or check you idle screw for proper rpms usually they are under 1000 rpm 950 around there but i suspect it might be you air valve sensor the idle screw usually dont get outof adustment because if set from factory but is something you can look at

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1505 indicates the IAC system has reached the adaptive clip.
Possible causes:
  • Air leaks.
  • Plugged air filter element.
  • Throttle body/linkage binding.
  • Contaminated or damaged IAC valve assembly.
  • Damaged throttle body
Whenever an IAC component is replaced or cleaned or a service affecting idle is performed, it is recommended that KAM be cleared. This is necessary so the idle strategy does not use the previously learned adaptive values.
To clear KAM, refer to PCM Reset in Section 2. It is important to note that erasing DTCs with a scan tool does not reset the adaptive idle table.
Once KAM has been reset, the engine must idle for fifteen minutes (actual time varies between strategies) to learn new adaptive values. Idle quality will improve as the strategy adapts. Adaptation occurs in four separate modes. The modes are transmission select in neutral with air conditioning on; transmission select in neutral with air conditioning off; transmission select in drive with air conditioning on; and transmission select in drive with air conditioning off.
