Usually there is an ignition key interlock. It should unlock if the ignition is on and the engine running. If this is not the case, there are wire or connection problems or the interlock device itself.

My 94buick park avenue can't shift out off parking level is locked

Are you talking about the trans shifter or the parking brake ?
If the shifter won't come out of park it could be the brake light switch or the shifter lock solenoid.
You may be able to shift out of park by turning the key to the unlock position but not to the on position, then crank the engine in neutral.

Shift lock camry

say again? and no year, what a waste that.....
is engine running,
is key in igntion, where is it, off , on?
is foot on brake pedal
slips to where? try to be exact.
slips to reverse, or neutral? or????
first off, park lock freezes the shifter in to park, until brakes are applied.
so my guess, is ,sigh.
you step on brake, start car, and the shifter falls to neutral
it cant fall to nothing, only, PRNDL (&2)
some cars have a park button on the shifter that locks you in park
this can fail, its just a simple lock in the handle.

My crysler 300 - C is stuck in park and wont let shifter move i move the pink pin under shifter plate left and right and still wont shift

This car uses a park lock system, it is operated by the brake light circuit, so is if the brake lights are not on when the pedal is pushed the park lock will not released. if the brake lights do work you have other more serious issues **** as a defective lock solenoid. The owners manual gives the bypass procedure around this problem, check the index.

04 mountaineer is stuck in park

If you are saying the shifter will not come out of park, the problem could be the brake light switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
If you disconnect the shifter from the transmission and the trans will not come out of park you may have broken the park gear.

97 mazda 626 wont shift from park. release button on side of shifter wont push in. removed knob, plastic rod in center wont move

The 1st thing you need to do is check the brake lights, if they are not wiorking the park lock solenoid doesn't get power and the park lock remains engaged.

With car running The shift leaver willnot come out of park

When pressing the brake pedal, you should hear a click at the shifter, as the shift-lock mechanism is releasing the lock on the shifter. If the sound isn't heard, there may be a defective shift lock solenoid (which may require replacing entire shifter assembly, depending upon model). Otherwise you may need to remove access cover at top of shifter to insert a screwdriver to push down on the bypass latch so you can shift out of park. You will also need to push down on latch to go back to park.

I can''t move gear level from parking position

Press a key into the little slot near the shifter, its a park lock over ride, the park lock is released when you press the brake pedal normally, its a safety feature that stops you moving the shifter when your foots not on the brake

2006 Altima won't shift into reverse or park

Is there any warning lights or malfunction besides this?? There are three main parts that may cause this: Park/Neutral safety switch(located on the transmission), Brake pedal switch(located at the brake pedal), Shift lock solenoid(located below the shifter). P/N safety switch prevents the shifter from shifting out of (P) or shifting into (R/P) while vehicle is in motion. Brake pedal switch sends a signal to release the shifter lock to shift out of park. Shift lock, locks the shifter as describe above and is located at the shifter base. I recommend inspection/replacement of the shift lock solenoid and P/N safety switch as its an intermitted problem. Hopefully this helps
