Question about Cadillac Cars & Trucks
If your positive connection has been loose for any serious amount of time, it's a good bet that it's not been delivering any serious amount of charge to the battery. Your description of the way the car acts when you try to start it sounds to me like a car that needs a good battery charge. If you have one of your own, great. Hook it up and put it on a low setting, then just let it charge a while. Usually for a full size car battery an hour to an hour and a half is sufficient. Most decent chargers have a system in them that starts the charge on a higher setting and allows it to drop down to low as the battery accepts the charge.

well first off, check the glove box light blub, make sure it shuts off when you close the door, check it by pressing the switch with your finger to make sure it shuts off, also check under the hood for the light there if there is one, pull the bulb, and the same thing for any bulb in the trunk, then check again after a day to see if the battery dies, if it is dying while the vehicle is not running then it is the battery, if it is dying after it is running then it is the alt. you can check that also tho with a multimeter set to the DC volts setting, place the black end <the ground to any grounded area> and the red end <the hot lead to the back of the alt. > it should be reading higher then 12 volts, normally should be a higher reading then 12 volts... if you are getting a lower reading or just 12 volts then the alt. is bad and needs to be replaced...hope this helps you out...

Need go check voltage at starter, under car, on small wire going to starter, check with test light, should have voltage there, while key is in stater, have some one hold it there while you check, if you have voltage there, with key to start only, bad starter assembly.
