I had the oil filter and fuel filter changed i had a tune up almost two years ago im not sure how often they should be done but the last time it was done the spark plugs were the only thing changed not the wires. This is irritating ive been to 5 mechanic shops and no one can fix the issue

SOURCE: pvc valve location on 95geo prizm

Both the 1.6 and 1.8L 4cyl. engines have the pcv valve located in the valve cover @ top of engine. It's usually just pushed in a rubber grommet on the valve cover. Twist while pulling, and it should come out. Let me know how you make out.

SOURCE: Would an idle control valve cause a car not to accelerate?

My 2014 infiniti I35 has the same problem. Press on gas and the engine/car shakes, no acceleration, engine bogs down, check engine light on "blink". Any idea (timing belt, coil?).

Starts good wont idle stalls. if i give it a mid rpm will hold steady, let go of throttle runs rough and dies

Hi Russell:
I'd start by looking for a vacuum leak, often associated with the PVC valve. Make sure the PVC valve is not obstructed. Possible dirty air filter.
How long since regular Preventive maintenance was done?
Cheers

Car will start for a few seconds and cut off then wont start at all also has code p0174 and putters bad when i try to give it gas

this trouble code means your system is running to lean on bank 2, Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 2 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 2 is generally the side of the engine that doesn't have cylinder #1. You will more than likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a lack of power, detonation (spark knock), and/or a hesitation/surge on acceleration

2003 chevy 4.8L truck wont start unless you give it gas any ideas

it sounds like the device used to control the idle speed is the problem. This is the IAC, idle air control valve. check the electrical plug going to the valve for security. The valve can be removed and cleaned with spray carb cleaner. Clean the throttle bore and plate as well. check for broken or disconnected vacuum lines. Lastly a stuck or clogged PVC or EGR valve may cause similar problems.

You may need to replace the IAC.

go to autozone.com web site. they will have a tutorial on how to test and replace IAC.

Picture of pvc valve burns oil

pcV Sould only function at idle or deceleration. If oil burning is occuring while accelerating, valve is open and defective. If pcv does not open at idle or decel, excessive crankcase pressure results causing leaks in places you didn't think held oil. Good Luck.
