If you changed brakes and it is screeching chances are your rear drum is warped which is typical. Grind the ends of the shoes(pads) and will go away. If you need new brakes I would deal with it asap as you are grinding metal to metal and eventually you won't be able to stop

There a wear indicator on each of the brake pads, when they wear down it hit the rotors. So when you apply the brakes on warn brake pads the noise you are hearing is telling you that you need new brake pads.

Worn brakes, worn rotors, bad caliper hardware, cheap or wrong type of brake pad material. Lots of Chinese crap out there. Go with name brand brake parts. Have this inspected by a pro.

My 2006 VW Jetta is making loud, screaming/screeching, sound from the passenger side-front, behind the the dash/glove box, between the engine and wheel.

I would like to think it is the electric fan behind the radiator that is screeching. When you stop the car, everything should stop, but that fan. That fan is supposed to cool the radiator, even after the engine is off and the car stops. It would not be so bad, because it does not run as much, in cold weather, but in hot weather, it should start sooner and run longer.
I needs to be replaced.
Be blessed.

I have a Toyota Ist that i bought 4 months ago. The problem I have is the noise whenever I use the car brakes. I have taken the car severally to different mechanics (at least 5 times!!) and I am at my wits...

Well, when I have a screeching problem, I try to use Wagner Thermoquiet brake pads that have the shim built in, instead of standard ones.

They seem to stop more quietly than other brands.

The technicians that say that there is nothing wrong are probably just measuring the thickness of the brake discs, and the thickness of the brake pads, and maybe look at the surface of the brake discs for glazing, and don't want to replace parts unnecessarily.

So, I would ask them about this problem and see if they can install the Thermoquiet Wagner brake pads to rectify the problem.

ABS has more to do with pulsing 5 to 6 times a second when trying to come to a halt to avoid locking the brakes. I don't think that it is the cause of your screeching sound coming from the front.

Screeching noise coming from driver side tire

The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.

Loud screeching noise coming from car after stops.

the screeching noise is most likely caused by a slipping belt or pully. transmission probably needs fluid and filter changed.

LOUD sounds when braking(99 Corolla)

It is dust/rust and it comes from a low quality or a high carbon metalic brake pad or shoe. this problem can be corrected by using the OE manufacturer parts or the use of Ceramic pads/shoes. However don't be fooled by "Ceramic" on a box, it may just contain ceramic particals and not be a true ceramic pad/shoe. In over 16 years in automotive specialty repair I have found the PD line of the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads/shoes to be the best economical fix or the Top of the line Akebono Ceramic line will fix what ailes you.
