What does the cpm sensor do

CMP or Cramshaft Position Sensor, have as primary purpose to generate a signal indicating top dead center on number 1 cylinder for the ECM (Engine Control Module) to use to manage the sequential fuel injection and for misfire detection.

If the camshaft fails on most cars, the computer, in lieu of a cam signal, will take a best guess and the car will still run but with a considerable lack of performance and gas mileage.

I suggest to check here INFORMATION.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I HAVE A P0016 PROBLEM ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 I ALLREADY REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND THE CRAMSHAFT POCITION SENSOR AND I HAVE THE SAME ERROR CODE CAN SOME ONE HELP ME WITH THAT THANX.

This code is not specific to a Cam position sensor failure, sensor failure may set this code. Below is a TSB (technical service bulletin) regarding this code. Keep in mind when replacing cam or crank sensors, they may need recalibration which is done by the dealer. If your vehicle has less than 60k miles, it may be covered by Toyota's warranty. Here is the TSB link below, hopefully this helps: http://www.djmase.com/tsb/Camry2007/eg004t.pdf

I'm not sure how to put a timing bell in my 2002 Chrysler Sebring. Please help me.

When setting the marks on the intake cramshaft sprockets (the two on top), one of the them need to be removed. With a wrench and an extension you can move the whole intake cramshft removed to align with the wholes so you can put the bolts back in place. Don't forget to activate the timing chain tensioner before try to start the engine this is very important!! It is recomended to do two or three complete turns on the engine by hand by turning the cramshaft with a socket to make sure no interior parts are on the way. Good luck!
