Most of them have an eyelet with a nut at one end and a clip at the other. Buy as a pair so the boot lid closes evenly. try after market replacements. genuines can be really expensive.

The boot light in my 99 model holden barina won't go out why I slammed every door checked the lights it turns off when I open the boot but come back on when I shut it wth?

Locate the boot switch and see if something is inferring with its operation you should be able to close all the doors on the vehicle whilst engine is running and view the dash through rear window whilst pressing the boot gate button in and out.if the light goes out only by pressing fully home .check that the tip has not sheared off this could prevent stop down when boot lid is shut.

Change boot strut on nissan primera

There are steel clips on either end of the struts use a flat head screwdriver to remove them and the strut should pop out with a little persuasion. Make sure to hold boot lid in case it falls on fingers.

The trunk door of our Jeep Cherokee Sport (1999 I think) won't stay open ie. the hydraulicy things on the side don't hold the door up--it just drops down and slams shut.

The "hydraulic thingys" are called trunk shocks. they are available at any local parts store - they are vehicle specific, they will have to look up your part number. they are very easy to change, either a simple locking tab at each end of the shock, or a bolt at each end. this is a two person job, someone will need to hold the hatch up while someone changes the shocks. good luck!

The trunk when released makes an extended noise that is hard to describe, and it must be slammed several times in order for it to latch. On top of all this when it is latched I get a message that the...

One or both support struts may be defective. Disconnect them both from the trunk lid and lay the ends down into the trunk. You will need to support the trunk lid while doing this and the lid will be quite heavier. Now close the lid to latch. Did it latch first attempt? Check for the dash message. If all appears well, replace both struts.

Elantra Backdoor shuts closed and does not stay open.

replace the hatch struts. I'm assuming you're talking about the back hatch. There should be 1 or 2 struts (look like shock asborbers), they've probably gone bad.

Boot cannot keep opening every time ope the boot . i have to keep hold boot with one hand .

I think on the ford focus the boot has a spring that is set up to pull the boot up when you open it.

If your boot is not staying open it may be that the spring has either come off or broken. I think there may be a spring either side. One way to check the set up so you know what your looking for would be to go to a dealership and look at a new car - look around - tell them your just looking if they ask and the open the boot and check the spring attachments. When you go back to your own car check to see if the same springs are in place. If one is missing then at least you know what you need.
You can go to the Service desk in the dealership and order the spring or at least check how much it is.
