Service engine soon light on took to parts store misfire #4 cylinder replaced plugs and wires should i clear code by taking ground wire off battery or wait for light to go off

Hi Jeff:
I'm a results oriented kind of guy so I's want to know if the fix worked. I'd use the approved "code clearing procedure" so that if the problem was not corrected, the service engine light would come back on and tell me.

How do I get lights to stop blinking when I open my 2003 caravn door

Head lights? Parking lights? Dash board lights? Head lights or parking lights I would go to the alarm system. If it's the dash board lights in the climate control panel, you have a major engine fault going on. Get your computer scanned.
Good luck. Jeff M.

Fuel injectors

Hi Jeff, Seems to me as if you have a problem with the cold start and enrichment control. I think you'll find that the temperature gauge sender unit mounted into the coolant jackets of the engine is defective and because it is not giving an enrichment signal the engine is too lean to fire. Have a diagnostic scan carried out, but I'm fairly certain. Regards John

Got a P1404 Fault on SMOG Test for my 2003 Kia Spectra but check engine light is NOT currently on (though it was on intermittently about 2-3 months ago and hasn't returned since). Best and most...

  • Hi Jeff,

  • What causes this error code is an EGR fault. If you remove the EGR and give it a real good cleaning and clear the code there is a good chance the code will stay away. Those EGR's get real clogged.

  • There is a possibility that a simple good cleaning will not keep the code away in which case I would recommend replacing the EGR.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Check engine light troubleshooting

Dear Madam or Sir,

If the "Check Engine Light" comes up, the on board diagnosis system of your Honda has detected an error with the petrol injection system, a faulty sensor, stuck servo motor etc. for example.

The light indicates the recognition and storage of an digital trouble code to the system´s memory to the driver. You should see a mechanic to check the ECU (engine control unit) for saved trouble codes.

Please don´t hesitate too long to prevent the engine from serious damage.

Kind regards from Germany

If you are referring to the "brake lights" at the rear of the Accord, then it would be the brakelight switch mounted on top of the brake pedal that needs checking. It is most likely shorted. There are instances that the wires/connectors might also require checking over while at times, it could just be a spring missing.

If on the other hand, you are referring to the brake indicator in the dashboard, then that signifies that your brake fluid level in the reservoir is getting low and would require topping. It could also indicate that some of your brake pads are getting thin.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
