Go to another mechanic and check out the wheel bearings and wheel nuts as the first mechanic would have fixed any problems the first time around.

2005 ford escape 4x4... when i take off there is a thumping in rear passenger side tire. only at 15 miles per hour then stops and when breaks are applied and have to go from stop to start.

Jack up rear end and spin the wheel with your hand. Check for any types of distortions in the tyre and replace if necessary.

Check tightness of wheel nuts.

Check operation of rear brake.

Check for free play in rear wheel bearing.

Check condition of drive shaft and coupling.

DO YOU HAVE DO REPACK WHEEL BEARING ON A 2005 ESCAPE AFTER 120,000 MILES

If you're talking about the front wheel bearings, they can't be serviced. They can only be replaced. They are sealed for life (even if the life seems to be a little short).
Here's the front bearing:

I never replaced the rear bearings on my 2002 Escape 4X4, but here's a picture of the rear hub.

You may want to raise the front wheels and check for loose wheel bearings by rocking the tire-excess rock the wheel bearing needs replaced. Also check the tie-rod ends-they should be stiff not easily moved. If they move easily replace the bad one. Also check the boots-two on each-on the CV joints-if they are torn or seeping grease you may want to have them checked.

Wheel bearings bad in front 2001 Ford Escape, any hints on repairing this myself?

I have a 2004 Escape 4x4 that I replaced a front wheel bearing myself last fall. It was not "easy", but it was doable. First thing I did was subscribe to Alldatadiy.com online to get detailed parts and service directions. For about $25 it gave me exact directions and steps to take. It did require some mid range automotive repair skills as well as a large hammer and a hydraulic press to reassemble. About $30.00 for the bearing and about 3-4 hours of labor...although next time I could probably do it in 2.

Good luck,

Pete
