1 st answer is SO WRONG as Platinum Plugs are Rated for 160 ks or 100,000 miles in The Best possible conditions such as constant Highway driving or No Oil Burning . The 2 nd answer is right USE a Rachet action 2 ton Strap to pull engine forward with trans in Nuetral . Remember Exhaust only has 1-2 inches Give . NOW get a Good 4 inch extension + Plug socket with rubber insert removed - ADD if needed wobble connection { similiar to a Flexible u joint } Then Rachet ... Use very Light pressure ++ increase pressure slowly Holding connections Stable until Spark Plug breaks Loose .. Important to not apply 2 much arm power all at once as U may break Porcelain of Plug . If engine has Plugs Thru valve cover or U have Trouble removing Plugs once Loose - Get a Extendable Mechanics Magnet 2 magnetize Tip of Plug and Remove it . NOW the Re install U may need a Piece of Vacumn hose on Tip of Plug 2 help Thread in a couple of turns - Set up Socket and 5 lbs- 8 pounds is all a Plug needs 2 be Tight . If plug Does not want 2 Loosen Then Spray it with Wd 40 s NEW rust Penetrant using supplied plastic spray noozle .. Allow 2 soak and Try again .. Last resort is start motor allow Heat 2 Expand metal threads of plugs = this may break Loose Galvanic corrosive seal that occurs in Aluminum heads / Spark plug threads .. Good Luck .

This is a problem designed into modern cars where the engineers didn't leave enough space for this job
ON some engines ( Mitsubishi for example ) the back 3 plugs are platinum plugs and never need replacing for just this reason

On most models, you can disconnect the dogbone mount and pull the engine forward a few inches. Make sure the parking brake is set and the trans is in neutral.
Also may help to remove the air filter assembly.

I have a 2003 v6 toyota camry. i am changing the spark plugs for this vehicle. i am having trouble locating three of the six spark plugs as a mechanist told me there should be three more...where are they...

The back three spark plugs on the V6 are difficult to reach without a socket extension. if part of the engine is hindering you from taking out back plugs. then remove the part thats in the way. then replce when done. have a good day !!

YOU NEED TO NUMBER TAG ALL SPARK PLUG WIRES ON COIL PACK MODULE IN ORDER SO YOU PUT THEM BACK IN ORIGINAL PLACE.REMOVE ALL PLUGS WIRES FROM COIL PACK.THEN DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ON COIL PACK MODULE THEN REMOVE COIL PACK.NOW YOU HAVE MORE ROOM TO GET TO BACK PLUGS.YOU NEED A LIGHT.A SMALL MECHANIC MIRROR.YOU NEED LONGER 3/8 EXTENSION.PROBABLY PLUG WIRE BOOT PULLER NOT MUCH ROOM TO PULL THE SPARK PLUG BOOT WITH HAND.

How do you change spark plugs on a 1999 oldsmobile silhouette i can get the front three plugs but i have no idea how to get to the back three.

I have a tool for removing the spark plug boot on sale at http://taeckertindustries.com/prod05.htm

After removing the boot, use a combination of extensions and universal joints with your ratchet wrench

How do change spark plugs on a 1998 xj8

Remove plastic cover over the engine ( three screws).
You then have access to the front three spark plugs (cylinders 1,3,5) remove the nut which holds down the independant coils and remove the spark plugs, fit new spark plugs and fit coils on the three front cylinders.
Now it gets a little tricky, you will only be able to access number 2 back cylinder so you have to remove the induction manifold (12 bolts I think) to access the back three cylinders (2,3,6,) properly.
Then proceed as with the front three spark plugs, refit manifold and plastic cover,

Spark plugs

If you want to see the three spark plugs on the back you have to lift your car and put on jack stand and follow the spark plugs wire under your engine. You have ignition coil set beside spark plugs for spare.
