Question about 2009 Chrysler Sebring

I have a lower end engine knock on my 2009 Chrysler Sebring, what should my fears/concerns be?

Rod/main bearings are bad. This is an engine rebuild or replace. You could throw an additive in it and drive it till it dies. I have seen engines last two weeks and up to 2 or 3 years, with rod knock. The ones that last a long time usually throw a piston rod out the side of the block.

    A new one will run $3500+, rebuilt is about $2500. A good used one will run around $1000. Then the labor to replace it. Around $800.

you need to loosen the clamp on the throttle body and unplug the map sensor then there are two clips on the other end pull that out and you should be able to pull the filter out you don't need to take the box off.

shift lock switch. this switch is usually connected to a little box on the brake pedal. Look about half way up the pedal from the foot pad and make sure the wires are still intact.

Once you take of the door panel, you should have two or three nuts behind the black triangler shape cover..Once you take them off, you just reverse the procedure...To take the door panel off, you may need a flat head screwdriver, and a phillip screwdriver..You may have two or three screws to take off..One is by the door handle..One may be under the window switch..which you can pop that off with the flat head screwdriver...Then just pop the panel off, and disconnect all the connections..Should be no more than 3....Goodluck..

these engines are famous for lower end problems. i have seen a lot of 2004 engines knocking, some as low as 31000 miles. you need another engine

2000 sebring engine ticking/knocking when hot.When you put in neutral or park it quiets down.

Check the torque converter to the flywheel ,make sure the bolts are tight,and if so,it still could be the flywheel,if not the engine has a rod knocking.

Front end knocking from 97 sebring

Move it to 3rd instead of drive and see if you still have the noise. May be transmission related since you have replaced everything else.

Knock sensor

The knock sensor threads into the side of the cylinder block.
  1. Disconnect electrical connector from knock sensor.
  2. Use a crow foot socket to remove the knock sensors.
The knock sensor threads into the side of the cylinder block in front of the starter.

  1. Install knock sensor. Tighten knock sensor to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.) torque. Over or under tightening effects knock sensor performance, possibly causing improper spark control.
  2. Attach electrical connector to knock sensor
